Russell Wayne Updike

Russell W. 'Russ' Updike joined the firm in 1990 after graduating from the University of Richmond T. C. Williams School of Law. He has practiced almost exclusively injury law for 25 years, representing individuals in personal injury, medical malpractice, and workers' compensation claims. He has achieved several jury verdicts of $1,000,000 or more, including the largest in Alleghany County history. He is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, served on the VTLA Board of Governors, and was a member of the Virginia State Bar Eighth District Committee and Disciplinary Board. He has been listed in the Virginia Super Lawyer Magazine for approximately 10 years and is a member of the Virginia Law Foundation Fellows, Class of 2009.

Dirk B. Padgett

Dirk B. Padgett is a highly accomplished attorney with over 30 years of experience in criminal litigation, international law, military operations law, and constitutional law. He served in the U.S. military, including the 101st Airborne Division and as a war crimes prosecutor at Guantanamo Bay. He successfully prosecuted the first al Qaeda terrorist under the Obama administration. He specializes in family law, criminal law, DUI, auto accidents, and personal injury.

Nolan Ray Nicely Jr.

Nolan is an Alleghany County native who has practiced law in Virginia since 1994. He focuses on complex personal injury and medical malpractice cases, handling information discovery, insurance issues, and other key components of building a strong case. He graduated summa cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College in 1991 and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1994. He has been active in his Church and community organizations and owns the Grizzled Skipper Conservation Ranch with his wife.

Jennifer K.M. Crawford

Jennie is a Bath County native who graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 and received her J.D. from Appalachian School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2011. Her legal practice focuses on litigating injury cases throughout Virginia, with an emphasis on investigation, discovery, legal writing, technology integration, mediation, and jury trials. She has been named a Rising Star by Virginia Super Lawyers since 2018 and serves on the Virginia State Bar Eighth District Committee and as Vice President of the Alleghany-Bath-Highland Bar Association. She is actively involved in volunteer work with the Alleghany Highlands Kiwanis Club and Alleghany Highlands Virginia Tech Alumni Association.
