Jeffrey B. Kelly
The sole focus of my law practice is consumer bankruptcy. I have been practicing consumer bankruptcy law since December 1998. I spent my college years in New York City at Columbia University. While at Columbia, I was a member of the cross country and track teams. I graduated from Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. After graduation, I returned to Atlanta and worked as a case clerk for a large Atlanta law firm for two years. In 1995, I got married and moved to Knoxville so that I could attend the University of Tennessee College of Law where I received my Juris Doctorate. After law school, we moved back to Atlanta. I spent many years working for various high-volume consumer bankruptcy law firms. In May 2006, I decided to start my own law firm. My main office is located in Rome, Georgia. My other offices are located in Dallas, Cartersville, Dalton, Kennesaw and Marietta. I know what it is like to suffer physical hardship. In my late 30s, I blew out my L5 in my spine running a marathon. For many months, I had great difficulty walking. Two spine surgeries later, I regained my ability to walk but had to give up running forever. I try to stay in shape through hiking and swimming. I also know what it is like to suffer emotional hardship. In December 2017, my wife of 22 years filed for divorce 4 days before Christmas. As you can imagine, 2018 started out a little rough for me. My whole world was turned upside down. This awful experience has given me a greater sense of empathy and understanding for my clients who go through this horrendous process before bankruptcy. Life sometimes throws us physical and emotional curve balls. The good news is that we can recover and go on to do great things. My favorite part of my job is that I get to encourage my clients and help them get a new start in life.
