Chad A. Mooney

Since graduating from West Virginia University College of Law, Chad Mooney has engaged in a broad litigation practice. He has represented clients in many trial courts across Virginia and the Supreme Court of Virginia, as well as the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western District and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. As part of his practice, he represents individuals and local and regional businesses. He assists clients with assessment, management, and, if necessary, litigation of issues, personal injury claims and commercial disputes. Chad advises individual and business clients of their rights prior to and during a lawsuit, with an eye towards the financial impact and risks of litigation. Although he employs strategies to resolve disputes peacefully, not all disputes can be resolved without court intervention. In those instances, Chad aggressively fights for his clients. Chad also enjoys time with his three daughters. His hobbies include running, biking, and tennis.

T. Brent Gammon

Brent Gammon is a partner with Daniel, Medley & Kirby, P.C. A native of Danville, Brent returned to his hometown in 2013 after practicing law in Florida for six years. He is a trial attorney, concentrating his practice in workers' compensation claims, defending employers, self-insureds and insurance companies, as well as defending employers, businesses, municipalities and insurers in automobile, premises liability and other liability claims in civil litigation. His practice also includes divorce/domestic relations, debt collection, business law, eminent domain and traffic defense.

Luis A. Abreu

Luis A. Abreu earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College and his Juris Doctor degree from University of Florida College of Law in Gainesville, Florida. He began his professional career in Danville, Virginia in 1981. After nearly 30 years as a partner in two larger firms, Luis opened his own law firm in 2011. Luis has been recognized annually since 2002 by Virginia Business Magazine as one of the region’s “Legal Elite” for his practice in the area of Domestic/Family law. Additionally, Luis has been voted Danville’s “Favorite Attorney” and “Favorite Law Firm” in the Danville Register & Bee’s Reader’s Choice and Showcase Magazine’s RAVE awards. He has also been recognized in “Virginia Super Lawyers” for his Family Law and General Litigation practice. As an active member of the Danville community, Luis has volunteered with the United Way, YMCA, Danville Science Center, Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, and the Danville Evening Lions Club. He and his wife, Sallie, have two adult daughters, Sarah and Maria.

Scott W. Kowalski

Scott W. Kowalski, Chairman of the Board of Directors for PLDR Law, has focused his practice on construction law and litigation since 1997, and has attained the Martindale-Hubbell AV-Preeminent Rating. His areas of practice include construction law, surety law and litigation. After clerking at the United States Court of Federal Claims, Scott practiced for over a decade in the McLean, Virginia office of the construction law firm Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald, LLP. In 2009, Scott returned to his hometown of Lynchburg with his family, joined PLDR Law, and has continued to exclusively practice construction law, representing owners, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in many facets of construction projects, including drafting and negotiating contracts, bid protests, contract claims, mechanic’s liens and payment bond claims, insurance coverage issues, as well as the mediation, arbitration, and litigation of claims and disputes.

James A. L. Daniel

Mr. Daniel has been listed as one of the Best Lawyers of America for over two decades in the areas of civil litigation and workers' compensation, has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for more than 40 years, has been listed as a Virginia Super Lawyer by Virginia Business Magazine in Civil Litigation and Defense and as a Top Lawyer in Virginia by the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Mr. Daniel has been a frequent lecturer for Virginia Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses in Litigation Practices, Workers' Compensation and Commercial Litigation and at the Annual Seminar for the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission.

Steven P. Gould

As President and Chief Executive Officer for PLDR Law, Steven oversees and manages all legal and business operations of the Firm. In his legal practice, Steven focuses on employment law, estate planning, general corporate matters, and assisting clients who interact with or are regulated by state and local governments in Virginia.

Sarah W. Houck

Sarah Houck is an attorney in PLDR’s Civil Litigation Practice Group. A native of Rappahannock County, Virginia, Sarah moved to the Lynchburg area in 2006 after graduating from Washington and Lee University School of Law. She is a member of the Virginia bar and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Court of Appeals of Virginia, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and the Federal District Courts of the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. Sarah has been honored in Lynchburg Living and Lynchburg Business Top Lawyers as well as the Virginia Business Legal Elite. When not practicing law, Sarah enjoys travel, live music, reading, hiking, and walking her dog. Sarah is the mom of two children, and stepmom to three.
