A native of Hampton Roads, he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1988. Jim Hurley

He lives in the downtown area of Norfolk VA with his wife, Pam, and has two children, Jimmy and Blair. He grew up in Buffalo, NY, attended the University of Arizona, and settled in the Norfolk area over 30 years ago.

Bailey Gifford

Bailey Gifford joined Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers as an associate in late 2020 and became a senior associate in 2024. She specializes in catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, trucking, railroad, and complex premises liability cases. She graduated magna cum laude from Morehead State University in 2016 and earned her J.D. from the Appalachian School of Law in 2020. She has secured multiple seven-figure settlements for clients and is recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star and Virginia Lawyers Weekly Up & Coming Lawyer.

Griffin O’Hanlon

Griffin O’Hanlon is a partner at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers and focuses his practice on litigation in courts throughout Virginia. He attended Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake and Virginia Tech, where he majored in history. He obtained his J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law with a concentration in civil litigation. He was sworn in as President of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association (NPBA) in 2025.

Bill O’Mara

Bill O’Mara started his legal career in 2008 and joined Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers in 2014, becoming a partner in 2017. He dedicates his practice to helping injured people, handling car, truck, and motorcycle accidents, wrongful death cases, traumatic brain injury (TBI), amputation injury cases, and premises liability claims.

John Baker

John Baker joined Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers in early 2018. He was born and raised in Norfolk and graduated cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College in 2006. He attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2010. He previously worked for an insurance defense firm for seven years. He is recognized as a Rising Star by Virginia Super Lawyers and a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch.

Cara Purvis

Cara Purvis attended West Virginia University and graduated magna cum laude from Old Dominion University. She received her J.D. from Regent University School of Law. She has devoted her entire career to helping others in the Hampton Roads area, including 18 years as a trial attorney and Deputy Public Defender in Norfolk, Virginia. She joined Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers in 2023.
