George R. Irvine III

Mr. Irvine is a member of the Firm and practices in the Firm’s Daphne, Alabama office. He has been engaged in complex commercial and business litigation for more than thirty (30) years in Federal and State Courts throughout Alabama and other southeastern states. He has been very successful in his representation of clients in business and consumer tort and contract matters and construction, real estate and insurance litigation. He has defended and prosecuted partner and shareholder disputes, claims against officers and directors and professional responsibility claims. His comprehensive litigation experience also includes products liability and wrongful death actions, claims related to high dollar real estate development projects, fraud, suppression and misrepresentation claims and negligence actions. The majority of his practice involves complex litigation claims including class actions and mass torts. He has recovered millions of dollars for consumers in class action cases against national banks. Mr. Irvine is licensed to practice law in Alabama and Louisiana. He is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association, the Baldwin County Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Irvine is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Alabama Association for Justice and is admitted to practice in both the Fifth and Eleventh Federal Circuit Courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana. He is listed in the 2008 and 2009 Alabama edition of Super Lawyers in Business Litigation. Born in Mobile, Alabama, Mr. Irvine graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1981 Cum Laude. He received his law degree from the University of Alabama in 1984. Mr. Irvine served on active duty in the U. S. Army as a Captain during Operations Desert Shield/Storm/Sortie. He has also been an adjunct professor of Business Law at Faulkner State University and the University of South Alabama.

Deepti Asthana is the Managing Partner at Caldwell Wenzel & Asthana, PC, specializing in Personal Injury, Estates and Trust Litigation, and Will Contests. She also manages Southern Estate Lawyers. Originally from New Delhi, India, and fluent in Hindi, Deepti brings a global perspective to her work. J. Bradford Boyd Hicks

Mr. Hicks is a member of the firm Stone Crosby, P.C., who practices in the firm’s Daphne office. Mr. Hicks received his Bachelors degree from Rhodes College in 2001. After college, Mr. Hicks worked in the United States House of Representatives for Congressmen Sonny Callahan and Jo Bonner, representing Alabama’s first congressional district. He was Congressman’s Bonner’s chief liaison to the House Committee on Science and Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics and also handled issues involving the judiciary, education and veterans affairs. He attended the University of Alabama School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate degree in 2006. During law school, Mr. Hicks was elected Associate Justice of the Honor Court, Senator of the Student Bar Association, and selected to be a member of the Trial Advocacy Competition Class. Mr. Hicks’ maintains a general practice that allows him to assist clients with a wide variety of matters. Mr. Hicks is a member of the Baldwin County Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar. He currently serves as Chairman of the Bayside Academy Board of Directors and is Past Chairman of Feeding the Gulf Coast, a Feeding America affiliated food bank serving 24 counties throughout south Alabama, south Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle. Mr. Hicks previously served on the Executive Committee of the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Section. He also has been named an Alabama Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine.

Whit A. Thomas

Whit A. Thomas is an attorney who began practicing law in 1980. He moved to Baldwin County and opened his Foley law office in 2004. He specializes in personal injury law, including motor vehicle accidents and premises liability, and also handles workplace accidents, medical malpractice, defective products, and insurance fraud. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Baldwin County Bar Associations. He emphasizes personalized attention and accessibility for his clients.

Samuel N. Crosby

Mr. Crosby practices in the firm’s Daphne, Foley and Bay Minette offices. His practice areas include wills, trusts, estates, powers of attorney, probate litigation, real estate, mediations, and business law. In 1973, Mr. Crosby graduated with academic distinction from the University of Virginia where he was an All Atlantic Coast Conference soccer player and co-captain of the men’s team. He received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law where he was a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and Moot Court Board. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the University of Alabama Law School Foundation. Mr. Crosby served as president of the Alabama State Bar from 2007-2008. In 2008, he became the first Alabama lawyer to receive the Chief Justice’s Outstanding Leadership Award for his service to the public. Since 2009, Mr. Crosby has been included each year in the Alabama Super Lawyers magazine in the practice area of Estate Planning and Probate. In 2012, Mr. Crosby received the Albritton Pro Bono Leadership Award from the Alabama State Bar. The award recognizes an individual for leadership in making free legal services available to the low income citizens. In 2013, he received the Howell T. Heflin award given by the Mobile and Baldwin County Bar Associations to recognize an Alabama judge or attorney who has brought honor and integrity to the legal profession during his or her years of service to the citizens. In 2016, Mr. Crosby received the Sam W. Pipes Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Alabama School of Law. The award is given to an outstanding alumnus who has distinguished himself or herself through service to the Bar, the University of Alabama, and the School of Law. Mr. Crosby received the J. Anthony “Tony” McLain Award from the Alabama State Bar in 2017. The award recognizes outstanding, long-term and distinguished service in the advancement of professionalism by a living member of the Alabama State Bar. In 2024, Mr. Crosby received the Bill Scruggs Award given to members of the Alabama State Bar who have made significant contributions and given outstanding long-term service to the Bar. Mr. Crosby also received the first Baldwin County Bar Association Professionalism Award in December 2024 for serving the best interests of clients, prioritizing the efficient resolution of disputes, and improving the administration of justice. Mr. Crosby has served as president of the Baldwin County Bar Association and is a Life Fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation. This fellowship is based upon dedication to the legal profession and community and is limited to 1% of the state bar association. He is also recognized as a premier mediator, well known for his legal, analytical and conciliation skills. He is one of twenty Alabama mediators selected as a charter member of the Alabama chapter of the National Association of Distinguished Neutrals. As a mediator, he has also assisted parties in settling hundreds of civil cases. Mr. Crosby has authored two books and numerous professional articles and columns. His book of humorous court stories, The Sleeping Juror (www.sleepingjuror.com), was published in 2002 by the Alabama Law Foundation and has raised over $60,000.00 for Kids’ Chance Scholarships and indigent legal services. He has also served on the editorial boards of the Alabama Lawyer and Addendum magazines. Mr. Crosby served as a local municipal judge, a special probate judge, and is retired from the JAG Corps of the United States Naval Reserve. He has served as an an adjunct professor at the University of South Alabama. He is a past director of Ecumenical Ministries, Inc., an organization that aids low-income families in Baldwin County, and he has been active in numerous charitable and civic organizations, including the American Red Cross and the Waterfront Rescue Mission. He co-led Crown/Compass Financial Ministries small group Bible studies each year for 28 years and plays music with bands at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, New Zion Christian Church, Five Rivers Church, and Church of the Apostles, an Anglican church where he is a member.

James M. Burns is an experienced trial lawyer with over 20 years of legal experience in Florida and Alabama state and federal courts. He began his career in criminal litigation for the state of Florida from 1996 to 1999. A lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, he is well-acquainted with the local courts, judges, prosecutors, and lawyers in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida, and Baldwin and Mobile counties in Alabama. He has successfully represented thousands of clients in criminal defense and family law matters, protecting their constitutional rights.

L. Brian Chunn

Mr. Chunn is a member of the firm who lives in Daphne, Alabama and practices principally in the firm’s Daphne office. His areas of specialty include civil litigation and domestic relations, as well as probate, real property and commercial law. He also assists the firm in its representation of local governmental authorities. Mr. Chunn received his degree in Finance from the University of South Alabama in 1987. He graduated from the University Of Alabama School Of Law in 1992, where he was a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board. Mr. Chunn is a member of the Baldwin County Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar, as well as the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. He practices in both state and federal courts. Mr. Chunn has successfully litigated and mediated numerous divorces as well as other civil matters. He has successfully litigated accident, personal injury and property damage claims for both defendants and plaintiffs.
