Jacob D. Born

Jacob Born is a founding partner who leads SBLTV’s litigation team and focuses his practice in the areas of catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation. He represents clients and their families in nursing home, trucking and tractor trailer, industrial worksite, product liability, and complex injury litigation cases. Jacob has devoted much of his professional career to finding answers to complex legal issues. The most rewarding part of Jacob’s practice is securing meaningful results for his clients when he is up against large corporations, nationwide trucking companies, and multi-national businesses. Jacob grew up in northeast Columbia. He is a 2001 graduate of Ridge View High School. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology. Jacob continued his professional career by attending the Charleston School of Law. He graduated in 2011. Mr. Born is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of South Carolina and Georgia. He is a contributing member of the American Association of Justice, Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys, South Carolina Association for Justice, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. Jacob is an active member of the American Association of Justice’s nursing home, trucking, railroad, rideshare, and motor-liability litigation groups. He currently serves on the South Carolina Association of Justice’s Board of Governors. Jacob has been nominated and a member of Super Lawyers since 2019, and included in the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Top 40 under 40. Mr. Born is also a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is a product of securing multiple seven figure recoveries for his clients in South Carolina and Georgia. In addition to his professional involvement in the legal community, Jacob is an active member of the Prisma Health Foundation’s Cancer Board where he helps raise money for the local oncology center and cancer hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Born is a pediatric cancer survivor and was the chair of the Prisma Health Cancer Board in 2024. Outside the practice of law, Jacob enjoys spending time with his wife - Erin and family, playing golf, working on DIY projects at his house, snow skiing, and being involved in his local community.
