Sean Heffernan

Sean was born and raised in Ohio. He graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a focus in Criminalistics. Sean earned his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. Sean is a Partner at McCarty & Heffernan where he focuses on Personal Injury cases, Criminal Defense, and Civil Litigation. Prior to attending law school, Sean worked as a Death Scene Investigator in Cleveland Ohio and handled emotional and stressful situations. During law school, Sean clerked at the Public Defenders assisting indigent clientele with their criminal cases. Sean originally from the Cleveland area moved to Columbus to go to law school and immediately fell in love with the central Ohio area. Sean and his wife, Aimee, are members of Grove City’s community and have just welcomed their first child Hazel. In his free time Sean participates in the International Chili Society and cook’s chili competitively. Sean has qualified for the ICS World Chili Cook Off on multiple occasions. Sean and his firm, McCarty & Heffernan, strives to provide the best customer service and representation. Joel Newby

Attorney Joel Newby received his Bachelor’s from Ohio University in Political Science and Sociology. He also received a Master’s in Political Science from Ohio University. He was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science honors fraternity and President of Graduate Student Senate. Joel attended and graduated from Capital University Law School with Pro Bono Honors. While in law school, Joel was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in the General Litigation clinic. Joel is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio. Attorney Joel Newby was a law clerk in the Franklin County Public Defender’s office prior to working as an Attorney at a law firm. He left that law firm to start his own practice. Joel believes that the client’s needs should come before the Attorney’s paycheck. That is why Attorney Newby started The Newby Law Office and created an affordable fee schedule so everyone can afford an attorney.

Michelle McCarty

After graduating magna cum laude with her Bachelor’s Degree at The Ohio State University, Michelle continued to The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law for her Juris Doctorate. During law school, Michelle worked with underserved clientele at the Franklin County Public Defender’s Office. Shortly after graduating, she began practicing in family law as both an attorney and as a Guardian ad Litem. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and continually chasing her two children.
