Edward E. Saleeby
Edward E. Saleeby was born in Hartsville, graduated from Hartsville High School in 1944, and the University of South Carolina with an LL.B. in 1949. He was admitted to the Bar in 1949 and practiced law from 1949 to 2002. He served as a State Representative (1950-1958), Darlington County Attorney (1952), and a member of the USC Board of Trustees (1961-1972, 1988-1991). He was also Potentate of Omar Temple (1968-69), on the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Bar Association (1970-1973), and President of the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association (1970-71). He was elected State Senator in 1972 and served for almost thirty years until 2002, chairing various Senate committees. He was known for his passion for public service and legal service, maintaining a walk-in policy for clients.
