Mr. Jerry M. Hiatt

Mr. Jerry M. Hiatt graduated with honors from Harvard University in 1973 and received his J.D. from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, William S. Richardson School of Law in 1977. He clerked for Baker and McKenzie and Carlsmith Ball LLC before becoming a partner at Carlsmith firm in 1983. He later co-founded Bays Deaver Hiatt Kawachika & Lezak in 1986 and founded his own firm in 2001. Mr. Hiatt has extensive trial, arbitration, and mediation experience in complex disputes, including labor, employment, construction, personal injury, real property, and medical malpractice cases. He is a recognized mediator and arbitrator, having been named Hawai'i Labor & Employment - Litigation Lawyer of the Year (2012), Hawai'i Mediation Lawyer of the Year (2014, 2021), Hawai'i Employment Law (Individuals) Lawyer of the Year (2017), and Hawai'i Arbitration Lawyer of the Year (2018).

Ms. Mahilani E.K. Hiatt

Ms. Mahilani E.K. Hiatt graduated from William S. Richardson School of Law in 1993. She began her legal career in complex civil litigation, later serving as a Human Resources Administrator and then joining Hiatt & Hiatt as a partner in 2010. She has represented clients in employment, labor, medical malpractice, personal injury, construction, real property, and partnership disputes. Ms. Hiatt was appointed as a per diem Judge and later a District Family Court Judge in the Third Circuit, State of Hawaiʻi, presiding over family and district court calendars and over 350 trials. She has also served as a Foreclosure Commissioner and arbitrator.
