Howard Merricks
Attorney Howard Merricks began his legal career as an insurance defense attorney with the law firm of Smalbein, Johnson, Rosier, Bussey, Rooney, and Ebbets. Having learned how insurance companies evaluate claims, Attorney Merricks exclusively represents plaintiffs in the areas of personal injury litigation, automobile accidents, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and nursing home abuse. He has successfully handled thousands of cases in his 30+ years as a trial attorney. Howard Merricks is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar, The Florida Justice Association (formerly The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers), and the American Association for Justice, (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America). Mr. Merricks is admitted to practice before all state courts in Florida as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the United States Court of Claims.

Todd Hingson
Todd Hingson, Esq. is a 1996 Honors graduate from the University of Florida. While at UF, he served as a member of the Florida Cicerones (UF’s Official Student Ambassadors), he was as an active member and officer in Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, and he was inducted into Florida Blue Key (the State of Florida’s oldest and most prestigious collegiate leadership honorary). Mr. Hingson attended Mississippi College School of Law, where he was elected Chief Justice of the Honor Court and was an award-winning member of the school’s Moot Court Team. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi College School of Law in 2000. Mr. Hingson served the bulk of the first decade of his career as an Assistant State Attorney at the State Attorney’s Office in the Eighth and Third Judicial Circuits in North Central Florida. Mr. Hingson prosecuted thousands of cases as a Prosecutor including juvenile cases, misdemeanors, criminal traffic cases, and felonies. In his last 5 years with the State Attorney’s Office, Mr. Hingson served as a Division Chief, with primary responsibility for handling Special Prosecution cases, including homicides, child sex offenses, and sexual batteries. Mr. Hingson obtained a 94% jury trial conviction rate as a Prosecutor. Mr. Hingson served four years as an Officer in the Third Judicial Circuit Bar Association, culminating with his term as President in 2008-09. In 2009, Mr. Hingson transitioned to a career in civil litigation. Since, he has exclusively represented Plaintiffs in personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases. As a Plaintiff’s civil litigation attorney, Mr. Hingson has been involved in the successful resolution of cases for clients resulting in six and seven-figure settlements. He has also tried civil cases involving serious injury and death before a jury. Mr. Hingson is a member of the Bar in Florida, Tennessee and the District of Columbia.

Robert Lamot
Robert Lamot graduated with Honours in History and Political Science at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He continued his education obtaining a Master of Arts in Legal Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa. Robert attended Queen’s University, Faculty of Law, in Kingston, Ontario, where he received his Bachelor of Laws degree in 2000. Robert’s area of practice is exclusively devoted to plaintiff personal injury law, representing clients involved in motor vehicle accidents (Tort and AB), slip and fall / trip and fall incidents, occupiers liability claims, long-term disability and critical illness claims.

Kameliya Stancheva
Kameliya Stancheva has been a licensed paralegal and a member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2009 and Ontario Trial Lawyers Association since 2010. She obtained her Court and Tribunal Agent Diploma at Seneca College, as well as The Osgood Certificate in Negotiation at Osgood Hall Law School of York University. She completed her master’s degree in Engineering in 1990 and her master’s degree in Industrial design in 1991 in Europe. Kameliya Stancheva has more than 20 years of experience as a professional negotiator. She has been involved in many case conferences, mediations and pre-arbitration hearings before the License Appeal Tribunal, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and Alternative Dispute Resolution Chambers. She has extensive experience in dealing with catastrophically injured victims of motor vehicle accidents in GTA and North Western Ontario. She is devoted to assisting her clients, investing an extensive amount of time with insurance adjusters, medical practitioners, and defense lawyers, in order to achieve expert results in settlements.

Brian Metson
After graduating from the University of Guelph in 1989 with an honors degree in political studies, Brian Metson went on to study law at Queens University. After graduating with a law degree in 1993, Mr. Metson was called to the bar in 1995. Throughout the 25 years in which he has been in practice, Mr. Metson has worked almost exclusively as a litigator with a focus on personal injury law. Mr. Metson is a long-standing member of the Ontario Trial Lawyer’s Association and has been involved in all aspects of trial work including matters before the Court of Appeal. Joining Merricks Law Group as counsel in 2017, Mr. Metson was asked to take on the role of managing lawyer in 2019. Since that time, Mr. Metson has helped Merricks Law Group build upon our initial growth in the Greater Toronto Area and is working on ensuring that our firm continues to be in the best position possible to deliver effective and timely advocacy for our clients.

Harneet Badwal-Sandhu
Harneet graduated from York University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts before earning her Paralegal Education diploma from Humber College in 2018. She furthered her legal education at the University of Leicester Law School, graduating in 2020. Harneet joined Merricks Law Group in 2019 as a summer student and returned in 2020 to work as a legal assistant while completing the National Accreditation process. She then completed her articles with the firm and was appointed as an associate lawyer, following her call to the bar in 2023. Dedicated to providing exceptional legal support, Harneet is committed to advocating for her clients with integrity and professionalism.
