Ryann S. Embury, ESQ.

Ryann S. Embury is a partner and co-founder of MILLER | EMBURY, PLLC. He specializes in personal injury law, representing individuals injured in automobile accidents, wrongful death matters, workers’ compensation, and premises liability actions. Ryann's extensive litigation experience began when he started his legal career as a Prosecutor for one of the country's largest Prosecutor's offices. As a Prosecutor, Ryann gained significant and valuable courtroom experience. Ryann then moved into the civil sector where he joined Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, PLC, one of the largest and most reputable civil litigation firms in Phoenix, Arizona. Ryann was also a former law clerk to Chief Justice Steven Markman of the Michigan Supreme Court. Ryann earned his Juris Doctor law degree from Michigan State University College of Law. While in Law School, Ryann excelled in the area of trial practice. He was selected to the Law School's Moot Court Board where he successfully competed in national trial and appellate competitions, earning national recognition for trial advocacy and brief writing. He was later selected to teach junior law students and became the captain of an appellate team. He led his team to the top of a prestigious national competition. Ryann is admitted to practice in both Michigan and Arizona and is a member of the bar in each state. Throughout his legal career, he has successfully tried cases to judges and juries in both Arizona and Michigan. And he has attended numerous motion hearings in both Federal and State Courts on a wide variety of legal matters. In 2023, Ryann secured a $900,000 settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the estate of a young woman tragically killed following a road rage incident between two men. In 2020, Ryann successfully obtained a $3.4M award and settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit against a Michigan trucking and linen delivery service company and its negligent driver. Ryann also recently achieved a $415,000 jury verdict on behalf of his clients who were injured as pedestrians while walking on a sidewalk after being struck by a car and a $329,000 jury verdict and fees in excess of $100,000 on behalf of his client who was injured in a broadside collision in Traverse City after the insurance company rejected an $80,000 offer of judgment. In his spare time, Ryann enjoys being outdoors and is an avid runner and cyclist. He also has a long-time passion for the game of hockey and continues to be involved in minor hockey as a coach.

Ryan T. Glanville

Ryan T. Glanville is a trial attorney specializing in criminal defense, civil litigation, personal injury, divorce, and driver's license reinstatement. He is a member of several legal associations including the Michigan Bar Association and American Bar Association. He was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1997.

Nathan P. Miller, ESQ.

Nathan Miller is a partner and co-founder of Miller Embury, PLLC. He represents people who have been injured in auto and workplace accidents, and helps them receive compensation for their injuries, medical bills, and wage loss. He is also one of the few attorneys in northern Michigan who handles medical malpractice cases. Nathan practices law with the view that it is the lawyer’s job to achieve justice for his or her client. Nathan loves administering justice to insurance companies and wrongdoers who have harmed his clients. Nathan’s law practice encompasses all phases of civil litigation. In a recent workers' compensation case, he represented a widow whose husband had been killed in a car wreck as he was driving from work to a welding class that his employer asked him to attend. The worker died, leaving behind a wife and five kids. The insurance company refused to pay the widow any workers' compensation benefits. The widow won at trial. But the insurance company refused to pay and instead tried to appeal the judgment. The case matriculated up to the Michigan Supreme Court, which upheld the trial judgment and ruled in the widow’s favor. Lewis v LexaMar Corp, 507 Mich. 998 (2021). The trajectory of that case spanned seven years, but ultimately justice was served. Nathan has served as lead counsel in jury trials for medical malpractice, auto negligence, and no-fault PIP benefits. His accomplishments include a $1.45 million arbitration award in an auto case after rejecting the defense’s $72,000 offer. He also achieved a $200,000 jury verdict for no-fault PIP benefits in a case where the defense maintained a $0 offer the entire case. He practices all over northern Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula. He is a former member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Judicial Qualifications Committee and the Traverse City Board of Review.

Tracy M. Thompson

Tracy Thompson is a managing partner specializing in elder law, estate planning, probate, trust administration, real estate, and business matters. She graduated from Ludington High School in 1982 and the University of Michigan Law School. She previously worked at Jenner & Block and as an Assistant State's Attorney for Henry County, Illinois.

Laura Hartman Thompson

Laura Hartman Thompson is a partner at the firm, specializing in estate planning, wills, and trusts. She graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 1989. She previously worked at Mayer, Brown & Platt and as an Assistant Attorney General in Rock Island, Illinois.

Lauren D. Murphy, ESQ.

Lauren D. Murphy is the Office Manager for MILLER | EMBURY, PLLC. Lauren earned her Juris Doctor and graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law. She also earned music performance degrees from Indiana University and Michigan State University. Lauren is admitted to practice law in Michigan and her practice focuses primarily on the formation of non-profit corporations. An active classical musician, Lauren is currently the principal bassoonist of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and the contra bassoonist of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. Lauren lives in Traverse City with her husband Nathan Miller and their son Rhys.
