Taylor Barnett

Originally from Ohio, Attorney Taylor Barnett graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio State University and graduated Cum Laude from Wake Forest University School of Law. For nearly six years, Taylor practiced at one of metro Atlanta’s premier insurance defense firms, working primarily for the nation’s largest insurance companies. Over his time at the firm, the Atlanta personal injury lawyer worked on every aspect of the claims process from handling pre-suit settlement demands and evaluations through trial and appeal. Sara Schramm

Sara Schramm is an Atlanta injury attorney who was born and raised in Iowa Falls, Iowa by parents who were both public school educators and local small business owners. She earned her undergraduate degrees in History and Spanish Literature from the University of Georgia. No stranger to hard work, Sara worked for one of the largest New York City firms and during that time decided to attend Brooklyn Law School at night to earn her Juris Doctorate while working full-time. In fact, it was the ten years of legal experience prior to law school where Sara developed her passion for mass tort litigation. Sara’s early years as a law clerk and lawyer started on the defense side of Multi-District Fen-Phen Diet Drug and Asbestos Litigations. Before she transitioned to the plaintiff bar, Sara lived abroad for a year and then worked at the University of Georgia School of Law as a student advisor for three years during the 2009 recession. She has always specialized in toxic torts and mass tort cases involving defective drugs and medical devices. Sara has deep leadership experience and community involvement. She is a past President of the Western Circuit Bar Association where she remains involved in Athens local bar activities. She is also Past Chair of the Athens Community Connection, Samaritan Counseling Past President and she serves as a current member of the Athens Technical College Paralegal Advisory Board and Law Library Board of Trustees. She just stepped down as Chair of the Athens Area Community Foundation where she still serves on that board as immediate past chair. Sara Speas Schramm is an active member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), where she currently serves on the Law Schools Committee and the Trial Lawyers Care Committee, with terms running through July 2026. Philip Poole

Philip Poole has been an associate with Hammers Law Firm since 2024. Before joining Hammers Law Firm, Philip worked for a boutique business litigation firm in Decatur, Georgia where he worked on a wide variety of complex business disputes including: construction defects, partnership and shareholder disputes, business torts, employment discrimination claims, breach of contract claims, claims involving the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act (FBPA), defamation claims, claims for fraud and breach of fiduciary duty, commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes, trademark and copyright claims under the Lanham Act, and restrictive covenant disputes. Philip has been first or second chair in over a dozen jury trials and bench trials in the Georgia State and Federal Courts. Immediately after graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law, Philip served as a law clerk in the Superior Court of Carroll County for Hon. Jon Simpson, Chief Judge of the Coweta Judicial Circuit. After completing his clerkship, Philip worked at a large regional insurance defense firm where he represented insurance companies and their insureds in first-party coverage disputes and third-party liability claims. Philip now focuses his practice on fighting for the rights of injured individuals across the state of Georgia in personal injury matters involving automobile liability, trucking liability, premises liability, and products liability. Philip is an avid University of Georgia Football and Atlanta Braves fan. In his spare time, Philip enjoys golfing, cooking, and spending time with his wife Erin and their two young children.

Michael Yates

Michael Yates joined Hammers Law Firm as an associate attorney March 2025. Prior to that, he practiced at one of Atlanta’s leading insurance defense firms for three years. There, he represented individuals, local businesses, trucking and logistics companies, and insurance carriers in the defense of personal injury claims. Michael worked every aspect of the claims process, handling pre-suit settlement demands and evaluations, drafting and arguing motions before the court, taking and defending depositions, and seeing cases through resolution. He now views these past experiences as an advantage that sets him apart from most personal injury attorneys, allowing Michael to better prosecute cases on behalf of injured victims. Michael is a graduate of Auburn University and Charleston School of Law. After earning his J.D., he worked for Georgia Legal Services Program, which offers legal services to low-income Georgians who reside outside metro Atlanta. At their Brunswick, GA office, Michael gained valuable trial experience, handling a wide variety of cases including landlord-tenant, domestic violence related matters, and wills. Michael’s practice now focuses on personal injury matters involving automobile liability, trucking liability, and premises liability. He and his wife, Anna, both grew up in metro-Atlanta, and they have one daughter together. He is a crazed Auburn University athletics supporter and Atlanta Braves fan. When Michael is not at the office, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.

Abbie Collie

Abbie Collie is the Chief Operating Officer for Hammers Law Firm. She began working for the firm in 2015 and has a decade of experience working in pharmaceutical and product liability law. In her role as COO, Abbie is responsible for the overall coordination that allows the firm to operate efficiently. She helps to design and implement policy and procedure that promotes our vision as well as oversee operations to keep business on track. She believes that a focus on operational excellence not only provides an outstanding experience for our clients, but an engaging work environment for our staff. Her past experience as a paralegal and Director of Mass Torts provided her with valuable insight that she used to frame the firm’s current case management system, Filevine. Abbie holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics from the University of West Georgia where she served as a member of the Board of Directors. She later attended Emory University where she earned her paralegal certificate. When not at work, Abbie spends her time running, boating on Lake Blue Ridge, or hanging out at home with her husband, son and two dogs.
