James M. Stein

Jim handles all types of litigation, including contract and business disputes, personal injury cases, and estate disputes. He is also experienced in alternative methods of resolution, such as arbitration and mediation. Jim has successfully handled multi-million dollar cases and tried various high-profile cases. In addition to his work for the firm, Jim also serves as the Divorce Hearing Officer and Support Hearing Officer for Franklin and Fulton Counties, and he serves as the Solicitor for Fulton County. He has been practicing law in Waynesboro for over 25 years.

Paul T. Schemel

Paul, licensed in Pennsylvania and Maryland, practices in the areas of government relations, business and non-profit law, contracts, estate planning and administration, trusts, real estate, land use and municipal law. He served ten years in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives where he authored five bills signed into law. Paul also served a special appointment to the U.S. Department of State as a member of a Provincial Reconstruction Team working with local governments in Iraq. He has taught college and continuing legal education classes.

William S. Dick

Bill has been practicing law in Franklin County for over 48 years. Bill now limits his practice to the areas of wills, estate planning, and estate administration. In addition, he conducts estate planning seminars for community and church groups.

J. Edgar Wine

Ed, a Greencastle native, has practiced law for over 40 years. He has served as in-house counsel for several local corporations and as an attorney-advisor for the U.S. Army at Letterkenny Army Depot where he concentrated in environmental law. Immediately before joining the firm, Ed handled acquisition and sale of businesses, commercial sales, and secured lending legal issues for Grove Worldwide. In addition to legal services, Ed is a licensed Pennsylvania Title Insurance Agent.

John W. Frey

John earned his BS in business administration from Bucknell University. He served as an officer in the US Army for three years, then returned to law school, graduating from the Dickinson School of Law in 1985. He has practiced law in Franklin County for over 25 years.

Elizabeth A. Clark

Elizabeth began practicing as an attorney in the complex litigation department of an insurance defense firm in Philadelphia. After a move to rural Alabama where she engaged in a general law practice, Elizabeth returned to Pennsylvania to practice business law, real estate, estate planning, estate administration, and orphan's court litigation. She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and Maryland and joined DSS Law in 2012, becoming a partner.

Nicole S. Miller

Nicole started working at DSS Law in 2017 as a college intern and became a full-time legal assistant in 2018. In 2019, she began to attend Dickinson Law School, where she continued her work for DSS Law as a part-time legal research assistant while also serving as a law clerk for both the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas Judge Matthew P. Smith and the Cumberland County Public Defender’s Office. Nicole joined DSS Law as an associate attorney after she graduated from law school and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2022. She is a Waynesboro native and strives to use creative approaches to legal issues with cost-consciousness and strong advocacy.
