David R. Barberi

David R. Barberi

I knew from a young age that I wanted to practice law. Through the work of my father, I witnessed firsthand the impact and ability that quality legal representation had on helping people through difficult times in their lives. I focused my undergraduate studies on learning how best to communicate with people in the courtroom and in life, obtaining my bachelor of science in communications, focusing on persuasive communication. After graduating from Central Michigan, I went out west and received my Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. I returned to my hometown to join the family firm in 2013 and focused my practice on criminal defense. Handling various matters and representing both retained and indigent clients. I used that experience to segway into a contested campaign to hold the office of the Prosecuting Attorney in 2018. I served as the elected prosecuting attorney of Isabella County for two terms. I decided to rejoin the family firm in 2025 to continue to learn new practice areas and take advantage of the opportunity to work alongside my father. I gained invaluable insights into the criminal justice system and managerial experience in running an office with a sixteen-person staff. During my term, we overcame the adversity of a pandemic and then, two years later, an asbestos-related building evacuation. Through it all, we continued to meet the needs of our constituents. I tried numerous cases ranging from sexual assaults, animal abuse cases, and drug delivery cases to murder cases and again gained invaluable courtroom experience. I live in Mount Pleasant with my wife, Taren, and our four children, ages ten and under. When I’m not busy at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, hunting, and being outside exercising, playing golf, or coaching youth sports. I love being in the courtroom and practicing law, helping people achieve the best possible outcome during their worst possible live event.
