Daren R. Barney

Daren R. Barney is a Founding Partner & President at Barney McKenna & Olmstead. His legal expertise spans a wide range of practice areas including Business Law, Construction Law, Estate Planning, Personal Injury, and Real Estate Law. His distinguished career in law began in 1994, following his graduation from the University of Texas School of Law. He co-founded Barney & McKenna, P.C. in 1999. Daren served as the Mayor of Ivins City from 2001 to 2009 and as a Judge Pro Tem for the Washington County Small Claims Court from 2000-2004. He was also appointed by Governor John Huntsman to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Fifth Judicial District. He graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University in 1991 with a degree in Political Science, where he was a Truman Scholar Nominee and Scholastic All-American.

Jeffery J. McKenna

Jeffery J. McKenna received his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Las Vegas, graduating with high honors and honored as the American Bank of Commerce Outstanding Student in Economics. He obtained his law degree from Brigham Young University with a full scholarship, named an Edwin M. Thomas Scholar, and served on the BYU Law Review. Jeff is a founding member and past president of the Southern Utah Estate Planning Council. He formerly served on the Washington County Library Board of Trustees and as an advisor for the Southern Utah Veterans Home Advisory Board. He was the first President of the Southern Utah Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and President of the Mesquite, Nevada Exchange Club. He currently serves on an advisory board for the Liberty Village in Hurricane, Utah.

M. Eric Olmstead

M. Eric Olmstead is a graduate of the University of Utah College of Law with over 35 years of experience in civil litigation. His practice focuses on Business, Real Estate, Construction, and Employment Law matters, as well as Estate and Trust Litigation. Eric works with owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout all phases of construction, including contract formation, bonding, liens, claims, and litigation. He also represents businesses in legal needs such as contract drafting, UCC, dissolutions, and collections, and assists with new business formation. Eric represents buyers and sellers in commercial and residential real estate transactions and litigation, and developers in all phases of real estate development. He counsels employers on minimizing employment lawsuit risks, handling cases involving wrongful termination, sexual harassment, Title VII claims, ADA, non-compete agreements, and trade secrets.

Ron Hill

Ron Hill attended Brigham Young University and the University of Western Ontario Law School. He was called to the bar in Alberta, Canada in June 1989 and co-founded Hill & Hill Law Offices in 1993. During his practice in Alberta, he gained extensive court experience and served as general counsel for companies and government bodies. He also served as a board member and negotiating committee member for a local college for 7 years and was a public lecturer on wills and estates. After moving to Ivins, Utah in 2015, he obtained his Master of Law Degree from Brigham Young University in 2017 and began practicing law in Utah in 2018. Ron practices in Estate Planning, Probate, Estate and Trust Administration, Business Law, Guardianships, Conservatorships, and serves as an Administrative Judge for municipalities in Washington County.

Joseph T. Prete

Joseph T. Prete graduated from BYU with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and a 3.8 GPA, and from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark School of Law in the top third of his class in 2005. During law school, he externed for the Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court, the Office of General Counsel for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Utah Attorney General’s Office. He also served as a Senior Editor for BYU’s Education Law Journal and co-authored chapters for a law-religion manual. From 2005-2015, Joseph practiced civil litigation in Las Vegas before joining BMO Law Firm in July 2015. His primary practice areas include estate planning, estate administration, business law, and real estate law. He focuses on careful drafting of legal papers to minimize future conflict and is skilled in litigation and conflict resolution.

Tyson D. Wade

Tyson is passionate about helping others navigate through the various legal issues we often face. His ‘bread and butter’ practice areas include estate planning, asset protection, probate, real estate transactions, business law, landlord/tenant disputes, contract law, as well as any and all things related to real estate investing. Although Tyson has spent the majority of his life in Oklahoma, he has deep family roots in southern Utah and has developed a great love for the people here. While at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Tyson had the privilege of serving the many Indigenous tribes in the state by preparing free estate plans, assisting in a probate process that is unique to the Native American people, and providing general legal help. He also spent time in the Oklahoma County District Court, where he served as a judicial extern for Judges Allen J. Welch and Richard W. Kirby on their Probate, Guardianship, and Adoption docket. Tyson is a licensed Attorney and Realtor in the State of Utah. He often uses his training and experience in both areas to compliment the other, giving his clients an added advantage when buying or selling real estate.

Matt Harrison obtained his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and attended law school at Arizona State University, where he graduated Cum Laude. After graduation, Matt has been admitted to practice law in Utah and Arizona. Matt has since represented clients in a wide-range of litigation matters including insurance defense, plaintiff personal injury, medical malpractice, intellectual property litigation, complex corporate litigation and trust disputes. Matt also focuses on general civil litigation, business transactions and formation, trust disputes and estate planning.
