Aaron Peterson

Aaron Peterson was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Arizona early in his life. He attended University of Arizona and graduated with honors with a double major in History and Political Science in 1999. He attended Harvard Law School and received his Juris Doctorate in 2003. Since graduating, Aaron has worked in a variety of areas including personal injury, insurance, construction defect, and criminal law. He also spent several years out of the law helping to run his family’s small construction business. His legal philosophy is two-fold: to put his clients in the best position in their cases by, among other things, challenging the evidence and the witnesses against his clients when he can, and to make inherently stressful situations as painless as possible.

Derek Zazueta

Since 1995, Derek Zazueta has fought for the rights of Arizonans through Civil Rights Law, Criminal Defense, and Family law. Prior to joining Matthew Lopez Law, Mr. Zazueta was a partner at Udall Shumway PLC, and managing partner at Zazueta Law Group PLLC in Scottsdale Arizona. He was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, graduated from St. Mary’s High School, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University, where he also lettered in football for the Sun Devils. Mr. Zazueta also is a graduate of Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College Of Law. Mr. Zazueta was named ASU Hispanic Convocation Graduate Student of the year in 1995. He has two boys and is active in the community with the ASU Sun Devils Letterwinners Club and Mentor Program as well as The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Zazueta was formerly a professional boxing judge, judging multiple world championship bouts and a member of the Fiesta Bowl Committee (Yellow Jacket).

Brian Robles

Brian Robles was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, and is dedicated to protecting his community. He earned his Juris Doctor from the James E. Rogers College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Arizona. Before joining Matthew Lopez Law Firm as a criminal defense attorney, Brian served as a prosecutor in the Pima County Attorney’s Office, managing a high-volume caseload in the Domestic Violence Precinct. He also spent over five years as a legal assistant in personal injury and wrongful death. Alex Romero

Alex Romero was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona. He has an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics and Government from American University in Washington, D.C. Alex then returned home to earn his law degree from Arizona State University. During law school, Alex gained legal experience by interning for the City of Phoenix Prosecutor’s Office and later worked for a personal injury and medical malpractice law firm before joining Matthew Lopez Law.

Jeff Kerr

Jeff Kerr received his Juris Doctorate with a Certificate in Criminal Law from the University of Arizona College of Law in 2008. He worked for both the Pima and Maricopa County Attorney’s Offices, handling misdemeanor and DUI courts, Mental Health Court, narcotics, and violent- and weapon-based offenses. As a defense attorney, Jeff has handled misdemeanor and felony cases across all 14 of Arizona’s counties, conducting over 30 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials and evidentiary hearings.
