Megan D. Andrews
Megan Holloway Andrews is an experienced lawyer and dedicated advocate for victims of personal injury and their families. She is a 2008 honors graduate of Maryville University (BA in Legal Studies, minor in Business Administration) and a 2011 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law with a concentration in Civil Litigation Skills. Megan is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois as well as the U.S. District Courts, Eastern District of Missouri. She joined Layton & Southard in 2014.
Stephen R. Southard
Stephen R. Southard, JD, is licensed to practice in Missouri (1992) and Illinois (1993), and in the U.S. District Courts, Eastern District of Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia (BS 1989) and Memphis State University (JD 1992). He is a Municipal Judge for Scott City, M.O., and a domestic mediator. He joined John Layton in 2006 to form Layton & Southard, bringing over 30 years of legal experience.
John A. Layton
John Layton graduated from Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau with a BS in accounting in 1967 and from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law with a JD degree in December 1971. He has practiced alone and in partnerships since, narrowing his practice to estate planning/trusts, real estate, and business matters. He is a founding partner of Layton & Southard, formed in 2006.
John Loesel
John joined our firm in 2010, after having clerked with us the previous summer. John graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2007. While at Southeast, John was involved in many student organizations, and in his senior year was recognized as the Man of the Year for Sigma Nu International Fraternity. John then went on to receive his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. At Virginia, John was a managing editor for the Journal of Law and Politics. John is licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Texas. John focuses his practice on bankruptcy, estate planning, elder law, family law, personal injury and civil appeals.
Thad Brady
Thad joined our law firm in 2009 after completing a prestigious judicial clerkship for the High Court of American Samoa. Thad received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law where he participated in a national moot court competition and served as an editor on the Elder Law Journal, which also published him as an author. Thad focuses his practice on criminal defense, DWI defense, family law, personal injury, and bankruptcy. He is trained and certified in DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing; the same training law enforcement officers receive for DWIs. Thad is also a founding member of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys.
John P. Lichtenegger
John has been practicing law since he was admitted to the Missouri bar in 1972. He received his law degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia. John is licensed to practice in all Missouri state courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States Supreme Court. John has led a very distinguished career in both the law and public service. He worked as Curator for the four school University of Missouri System from 1985 to 1995, including serving as President in 1992 and 1993. John received the Citation of Merit from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, along with several other awards and recognitions. John specializes in estate planning, commercial law, construction law, business law, workers’ compensation, and real estate.
Chris N. Weiss
Chris received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1988 and the Illinois bar in 1989. Chris is licensed in all Missouri state courts, the United Stated District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Chris has served as president of the Jackson Rotary Club and treasurer for the SEMO District Fair. He has been a board member for the University of Missouri Extension Council and the Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Chris also earned a master’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and taught Agriculture Law as an adjunct professor at Southeast Missouri State University. Chris specializes in ESTATE PLANNING, PROBATE LAW, AGRICULTURE LAW, WORKERS’ COMPENSATION, CONDEMNATION, WILLS AND TRUSTS.
