Gary A. Newland

Gary Newland is an experienced trial attorney evidenced by the hundreds of cases he has successfully won at trial. Many of Gary's cases have been covered by USA Today, Forbes, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, NBC, The Daily Herald, Oprah Winfrey and the list goes on. Recently, Gary won a decision that the client of a major insurance company was not only fully liable for the torn rotator cuff of one of Gary's clients, but the insurance company was guilty of "deceptive claims practices". The decision was so important because it held the defendant accountable based on the claims adjuster's despicable conduct. The decision sent the defendant and claims adjusters throughout Illinois a strong message that Newland & Newland, LLP is going to take the battle directly to the claims adjusters that use deceptive and improper claim practices. Gary has obtained millions of dollars for his clients and he has represented people for auto accidents, plane accidents, work related accidents, food poisoning, slip and fall, molestation, dog bites, construction accidents, truck accidents, bus accidents, class actions, mass torts and the list goes on. Gary began his career working for one of the top 5 largest law firms in the country where he assisted in the defense of Fortune 500 companies in mass tort litigation. Thereafter he used his skills to help individuals to protect their rights, stop abuses of large corporations and insurance companies. During his career he also made time to work at Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic helping those who could not afford attorneys. He also was a prosecutor in Chicago. Was injured while moving a piece of equipment. Initially approved but treatment disputed after concerns of an unrelated neck condition. Initial offer for the case was 5% man as a whole plus payment of some of the medical bills ($20k in total). A week before the trial respondent offered $150,000.00 to settle all issues. Counseled petitioner to proceed to trial to see if we could do even better. Two days before trial settled for $230,000.00. Motorcycle Accident: Motorcyclist was hit by a box truck driven by a distracted driver. Significant injuries with loss of work and property damage. Settled for $550,000.00 without the need to file in court. Kylee attended Keith Country Day School, Clarke University, and Valparaiso University School of Law. In 2015 she obtained her juris doctorate from Valparaiso where she was awarded for her advocacy during moot court. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Winnebago County Bar Association (WCBA) as well as the Young Lawyers’ Division President. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), Illinois Trial Lawyers’ Association (ITLA), and Workers’ Compensation Lawyers’ Association (WCLA). Kylee is an active participant in the Rockford and surrounding community. Kylee represents the people of Rockford Township as Township Trustee. She was elected in 2025 for a 4-year term. Kylee also serves as a member of the Clarke University Alumni Board. Barbara Morton

Barbara Morton graduated from University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication in 1992. Ms. Morton followed her BA with an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Regis University in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1996. Ms. Morton received her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in 1998. She has been licensed to practice law in Illinois since May 1999. Her practice emphasis is in Family law issues, Real Estate, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Traffic and Personal Injury. She has represented clients in litigation matters before State Courts, arbitration and administrative agencies. Ms. Morton has over 20 years of experience as a litigator trying over 30 jury trials, along with over a hundred arbitration hearings, bench trials, and contested motions.
