Frederick W. Penney

Frederick W. Penney is the founding partner of Penney & Associates® and one of California’s most recognized personal injury attorneys. Omar Habbas

Omar Habbas was born in Los Angeles, California and is the youngest of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Issa Habbas. His father served as staff sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and after service, opened up several businesses in the Los Angeles area while his wife raised five children and worked part-time to help support his family. His parents celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2013. Omar is married to Rio Habbas and is the proud father of three children, Tarik Habbas, Alexandria Habbas, and Nicholas Habbas. Tarik completed his undergraduate studies at Santa Clara University in June of 2013 and received a B.S. in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree in law from Santa Clara University School of Law in May of 2016 and went on to practice with the law firm of Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer in Oakland, California in the field of Employment Law. In April 2019, he joined Habbas & Associates and he is now a partner in the firm. Alexandria Habbas graduated from Santa Clara University in June of 2014 and is currently employed by Facebook. Nicholas Habbas graduated from Santa Clara University School of business in 2022 with a B.S. Degree in Finance. He is now attending Pepperdine University School of Law, where will be attending his third and final year of law school in the fall and will graduate with a Juris Doctorate Degree in May, 2025. Fingers crossed for joining the Habbas Law firm. Omar was born in Los Angeles, California in 1961 and has resided in the State of California throughout most of his life. In 1982, he received a BA in History from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1985. Omar joined the Law offices of William McCann and became a junior partner in 1987 until he formed his own law firm in 1988. Omar enjoys traveling and physical fitness plays a very important role in his life. He wrestled during his years in High School and has a passion for weightlifting. He participated in bodybuilding competitions in his early years (having won 1st place overall in the Teenage West Coast Bodybuilding Competition held in the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts) and 1st place in his weight group in the Mr. Santa Cruz Competition. He continues to train and weight lift 6 days a week. Charitable contributions remain an integral part of Omar’s life. He contributes significantly to family shelter organizations, the homeless, educational institutions (including Santa Clara University, Santa Clara School of Law, San Jose State University, San Jose State Athletics Dept, Sobrato High School, St. Mary’s College, ...), San Jose Police Foundation, Kick Childhood Cancer, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Leukemia Society, Oakland Genesis Soccer, Family Giving Tree, .... Omar takes personal pride in helping people and making a difference in someone else's life. He also sits on the Board of visitors of Santa Clara University Law School and in November of 2016 was invited by the school to serve as a director of the advisory group to the Dean of the law school. Joseph P. Mascovich

Joe Mascovich has specialized in appellate practice for approximately 35 years, and has handled more than 300 appeals and writs in all districts of the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit. He has also assisted with appeals in the Fifth and Tenth Circuits and the appellate courts of Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, New York, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. The cases Mr. Mascovich has handled have involved numerous areas of the law, including employment discrimination, wrongful termination, the FELA, products liability, other personal injury, insurance coverage and bad faith, commercial disputes, real estate, and state and federal regulatory disputes. Mr. Mascovich is a certified specialist in appellate law, California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization, and is a member of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers. There are about 100 active members in the Academy, and appellate practitioners must apply for membership by submitting briefs for review by the Academy’s membership committee. Jason W. Schaff

Mr. Schaff represents businesses, employers and injured individuals in all aspects of civil litigation. He has tried high-exposure matters to verdict in both state and federal courts throughout California. He began his legal career defending professional liability claims against attorneys, which required him to litigate in some of the most complicated areas of law, including ERISA and mergers and acquisitions. He has also handled employment matters, officers and director disputes, and catastrophic personal injury cases. Mr. Schaff brings a unique background to the firm as a prior claims adjuster with a large insurance company. Mr. Schaff is admitted to practice law in California and all federal district courts in California. He has been named a Rising Star in the Northern California Super Lawyers from 2009 to 2017. Since 2018 he has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer. In 2021, Sacramento Magazine named Mr. Schaff as a Top Lawyer in Sacramento. In addition to his work at Flesher Schaff & Schroeder, Mr. Schaff has been an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at the Pacific McGeorge School of Law for the last 16 years. Jeff Rickard

Jeff has been practicing law as a civil litigation lawyer for more than 35 years. Jeff worked in the Bay Area for many years as an associate at Alexander & Bohn (later the Alexander Law Group), several years as in-house defense counsel for a national insurance company)and then Needham, Kepner, Fish & Rickard, LLP, where he was a partner. In March of 2016, Jeff joined Habbas & Associates and with fellow trial attorney (and spouse), Lynne Coates, opened the firm’s office in the city of Rocklin, California. Jeff has litigated all kinds of personal injury cases including wrongful death, catastrophic injury, motor vehicle, medical malpractice, dog bite, premises liability and product liability and just about any kind of claim related to personal injury. Jeff’s practice area includes all of California. He has also litigated cases in State and Federal courts in approximately 15-20 other states. Jeff’s legal accomplishments include being named Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Associate in 2008 for his part in securing a verdict in excess of $10 million, in 2011 for his exemplary work on a case that settled for $6 million, and again in 2014, for his part in a case involving an catastrophically-injured bicyclist because of a dangerous road design; the case settled for a substantial confidential amount. Jeremy J. Schroeder

Mr. Schroeder, a firm shareholder, brings his broad experience to bear for the clients of Schroeder Schaff & Low in areas including business disputes, personal injury defense and prosecution, public entity defense and railroad transportation litigation. During his legal career, Mr. Schroeder has gained experience in varied areas of litigation, and among diverse industries, including automobile liability, wrongful death, collection actions, law enforcement defense, mechanic's lien law, personal injury, ADA defense, government tort liability, public employee defense, railroad FELA and asbestos defense, plaintiff's personal injury and many other areas of litigation practice.
