David L. Cleary

David L. Cleary, the senior partner and President of the firm, has practiced law in Vermont since 1970. For over 45 years, he has litigated both plaintiff and defense cases, including personal injury, toxic tort, product liability, aircraft disaster, professional liability, and commercial litigation, trying over 250 cases to verdict. He is currently very active as a mediator and arbitrator in these areas in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a long time member of and counsel to the Vermont Professional Conduct Board, counsel to the Board of Medical Practice in Vermont, and past-Chairman of the Governor’s Tort Reform Commission. He continues to serve on the United States District Court Advisory Committee for Vermont and lectures frequently.

Kaveh S. Shahi

Kaveh S. Shahi was admitted to practice in California in 1983. He worked for litigation firms in the San Francisco Bay Area before relocating to Vermont in 1989 and became a shareholder in Cleary Shahi & Aicher in 1997. He has a diverse trial and appellate practice in areas including insurance defense, insurance coverage, civil rights, construction, medical, legal and dental malpractice, employment law, and commercial SEC cases. He was an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School on internet law. Mr. Shahi is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and carries the highest rating from Chambers and Partners Guide and Best Lawyers in the USA. He is admitted in California, Colorado, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

Neal C. Vreeland

Neal C. Vreeland has been practicing law since 1977 and is now retired, serving in an 'of counsel' capacity. He earned his B.S. magna cum laude from the University of Vermont in 1969 and his J.D. cum laude from the State University of Buffalo Law School in 1976. His legal experience includes trials and appeals in state and federal courts across various areas such as personal injury, commercial disputes, construction defect litigation, real property claims, zoning, municipal law, and probate. He has also mediated disputes and handled commercial and residential real estate transactions. He has been actively involved in community roles, including as a Trustee for Green Mountain College and a Member of the Poultney Planning Commission.

Thomas P. Aicher

Thomas P. Aicher has been engaged in trial practice since 1991. He is regularly involved with Vermont’s winter and summer resorts and sports injury claims, handling a wide range of personal injury claims including wrongful death and catastrophic injury losses. His defense practice areas also include employment wrongful discharge and discrimination claims, and lawyers’ professional liability/malpractice. He is retained by several insurance companies to defend personal injury and property loss cases. Mr. Aicher is also involved with product liability issues for manufacturers. In 2016, he was named a Special Counsel to the National Ski Areas Association and is a frequent presenter on risk management. He is the past president of the Association of Ski Defense Attorneys and has carried the AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 2012.

James Levins

James Levins has 40 years of experience practicing law, representing clients in hundreds of cases including personal injury, employment discrimination, medical negligence, and family law. He focuses on helping individuals recover from unlawful actions and provides personal, focused attention to each client. Harry R. Ryan

Harry R. Joel P. Iannuzzi

Joel Iannuzzi has been an AV rated attorney for more than twenty years by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been a practicing civil litigator and trial attorney since 1984, upon his admission to the New York State Bar. He was a founder and principal of the New York City firm of Beck & Iannuzzi and its successor firm, Beck, Iannuzzi & Garcia, representing insurance carriers and specializing in construction/labor law defense and general premises liability litigation. In 2002, he relocated to Vermont and joined the firm in March of 2003, admitted to the Vermont State and Federal Bars that same year. He currently practices in all facets of civil litigation, including commercial litigation, personal injury litigation, construction litigation, employment litigation and insurance coverage litigation.
