Jack Buswell graduated from Sparta High School in 1977 and the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in 1982, where he was student government president and a recipient of the James H. Albertson Medallion. He attended Hamline University for his first year of law school (1982-83) and transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Madison, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1985. He practiced as an assistant public defender in Colorado before co-founding Arndt, Buswell & Thorn, S.C. in 1991.
