William Sand

Bill Sand is a founding partner of Sand Law, LLC. As a litigator, he represents individuals who have suffered serious injuries. Bill attended college at Hamline University, where he served as captain of the men’s baseball team. He then attended law school at the University of San Diego, where he was awarded the Honorable Louis M. Welsh Endowed Scholarship. This award is given to the person who best exemplifies the highest ethical standards and believes in the humanity of the law and who demonstrates a “passionate desire to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a trial lawyer.” While in law school, Bill spent time with the public defender’s office, worked for a civil litigation firm, and authored published articles pertaining to various state agencies. After law school, Bill entered the field of child advocacy law and helped obtain millions of dollars in services for children. He later turned his focus to personal injury law and began experiencing similar results. Bill has experienced uncommon success with an abnormally high success rate for his clients at all stages of litigation, from jury verdicts to judicial rulings. Outside of the law, Bill enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing music, and coaching amateur baseball. His community involvement includes coaching Special Olympics, volunteering at care centers for the elderly, and founding several youth baseball camps.

John Conard

Rick Sand

Rick Sand is a founding partner of Sand Law, LLC. He is a zealous advocate for the injured and devotes his practice to representing the “little guy” against large insurance companies, corporations, and the government. He focuses on motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, motorcycle accidents, and catastrophic injuries. Rick Sand graduated from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is licensed to practice law in Minnesota, Arizona, and North Dakota, as well as numerous Federal Jurisdictions. During law school, Rick worked for the Alaska Department of Administration’s Office of Public Advocacy (OPA). At the OPA, he advocated for indigent clients accused of criminal offenses within the Municipality of Anchorage. Since law school, Rick worked in civil and criminal litigation. Rick has litigated countless cases that have resulted in successful outcomes for his clients at all stages of litigation. Rick’s community involvement has consisted of volunteering at elderly care facilities as well as coaching Special Olympics, most notably as a volunteer during the Special Olympics Winter World Games in Boise, Idaho. In his spare time, Rick enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and kids.

John Akwuba

Attorney John Akwuba established and operates Akwuba Law Firm, LTD in St. Paul, MN. Tom Strand

Tom Strand is a personal injury lawyer at Sand Law. He focuses his practice on representing individuals that have been wrongfully injured in motor vehicle accidents, animal attacks, and premises liability cases. Tom also represents families that have been affected by the Wrongful Death of a loved one. Outside of work, Tom is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

Tyler Cottrill

Tyler K. Cottrill is a creative and highly driven personal injury attorney here at Sand Law. Tyler strives to provide outstanding value to our clients. He does so by being committed to connecting and relating to each client, and then utilizing his legal talents to achieve top-notch results tailored to each client’s individual needs. Tyler focuses his practice on motor vehicle accidents and premises liability, along with other types of injuries. Tyler is another attorney at Sand law who originally hails from West Virginia. Staying true to his roots from his education, Tyler attended West Virginia University for both his undergraduate and law degrees. First, he graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology before moving on to WVU College of Law. There, Tyler focused his efforts on litigation and developing into a trial attorney. In his final year, he was formally acknowledged as one of the best in his class for trial advocacy by utilizing his courtroom presence and persuasive ability. Those are skills that he continues to improve and employ for our clients. Along with other members of our Sand Law team, Tyler has a background in sports and implements his competitive nature to fight for our clients. Tyler excelled in the sport of boxing and competed professionally for several years before retiring undefeated shortly before graduating from law school. In his free time, Tyler enjoys spending time with his family and raising his two young children. He is also an avid sports fan and an outdoorsman at heart.
