James J. Hagle

JAMES J. HAGLE is one of the partners of the law firm. Mr. Hagle graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Illinois, College of Law in 1980, where he achieved awards for academic excellence, including Order of the Coif and the Rickert Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement. With over forty years of legal experience and over three decades being spent at Frederick & Hagle, Mr. Hagle has helped countless clients with litigation matters. He has practiced extensively as a trial attorney for personal injury clients and representing doctors in medical malpractice claims. Today, he limits his practice to personal injury claims on behalf of the injured persons and is committed to doing everything he can to secure favorable outcomes for his clients, whether that means going to trial or settling out of court. Mr. Hagle has significant trial experience with personal injury cases and has won sizeable verdicts for his clients. He currently holds record verdicts for personal injury cases in both Vermillion County and Champaign County. He achieved a 15.1 million dollar verdict on behalf of an injured victim involved in a railroad collision in Vermillion County. He also has achieved a record 9.83 million dollar verdict for an accident victim in a bus accident in Champaign County. Resolving issues outside of trial is another of his strengths, with many cases being resolved by way of settlement for over $1,000,000.

Jeffrey D. Frederick

JEFFREY D. FREDERICK, Esq. is a partner of Frederick & Hagle. Mr. Frederick graduated with high honors from Chicago Kent College of Law in 1982, where he consistently achieved academic excellence and was in the top 10% percent of his class. He limits his practice to personal injury and consequently has been able to focus his practice of law on representing those individuals who have been injured as a result of an automobile collision, a defective product or while working in construction. Additionally, Jeffrey Frederick also handles workers compensation cases as well as other serious personal injury cases. Mr. Frederick obtained a twenty-two million dollar judgment in Iroquois County, Illinois which he obtained in a wrongful death case. On numerous occasions throughout his career, he has achieved awards in excess of one million dollars for his clients. Baku N. Patel

Attorney Baku N. Patel is lead counsel in all felony criminal defense cases and personal injury/wrongful death matters at Patel Law, P.C. He was commissioned in the United States Navy as an Officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp (JAG) in 1993, serving as a criminal defense trial attorney and military prosecutor. He later joined the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as a trial attorney, then served as a senior prosecutor for Champaign County and Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s offices. He was appointed the youngest Chief Public Defender of Vermilion County at age 31. Mr. Patel was certified by the Illinois Supreme Court to be lead counsel in death penalty cases before its abolition in Illinois. He has tried over 150 criminal jury trials to verdict and recovered tens of millions of dollars for personal injury clients. He is eligible to practice in Federal District Court in both the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.

Patrick J. Hanlon

Patrick J. Hanlon was admitted to the bar in the State of Illinois in 1994 and the bar in the State of Missouri in 1995. He received his law degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri in 1994. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois. Mr. Hanlon became an associate for the firm of Frederick and Hagle in July of 1995 and since that time has represented hundreds of victims in workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. Mr. Hanlon limits his practice to Plaintiff’s personal injury, workers’ compensation and probate matters. In 2002, Mr. Hanlon became a partner with the firm of Frederick and Hagle. In the past decade, Mr. Hanlon has obtained settlements and verdicts on behalf of his personal injury and workers’ compensation clients in excess of $25,000,000.00.

Brian T. Schurter

Brian T. Schurter helps clients with civil litigation, including Plaintiff Personal Injury, Worker’s compensation, and business disputes. He has collected millions of dollars for injured clients and also handles estate planning, real estate, and municipal law. He joined the firm in May 2006.

Aaron D. Lauter

Aaron D. Lauter was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2011. He graduated with honors from Illinois State University with bachelors in political science and philosophy. In 2011, he received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law where he graduated with high honors. Prior to law school, Mr. Lauter worked as intern for the Human Rights Monitor in Monrovia, Liberia. During law school, he worked as a law clerk for the U.S. District Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado. He was a member of University of Illinois Law Review. While in law school he was twice named a Harno Scolar and was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Torts. Mr. Lauter joined the firm of Frederick and Hagle as a law clerk in the Spring of 2010. Upon graduation, he joined the firm as an associate with significant experience in the areas of personal injury and medical malpractice defense.
