Michael Shlansky

Mike was raised in Weston, Connecticut and attended the Weston public schools. He received his law degree, as well as his Master’s Degree in Admiralty & Maritime Law, from Tulane Law School. Thereafter, he practiced law in New Orleans specializing in maritime law, commercial litigation and insurance defense. Michael and his wife returned to Weston in 2017 where he joined a personal injury litigation firm in Stamford, Connecticut. In the Fall of 2019, he began working with Sherwood & Garlick, P.C., a general practice firm with its roots deeply embedded in Fairfield County. Having previously clerked at Sherwood & Garlick, Michael wished to continue to provide the services of a general law practice with an emphasis on admiralty and maritime law, insurance recovery, real estate and estate planning. Michael enjoys being an active member of the Weston community, which includes serving as a Captain in the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.

Jeremiah N. Johns

Jeremiah Johns is a seasoned litigation attorney who has substantial experience handling insurance, maritime, and complex litigation involving brokers, agents, fiduciaries, and others. Having handled hundreds of cases in both federal and state court, Jeremiah has the litigation skills needed to maximize a client’s recovery. Jeremiah’s insurance practice involves representing businesses and individuals in coverage denials as well as delayed and underpaid claims. Areas of insurance that Jeremiah has ample experience in includes commercial, property, life, liability, and accidental death. Jeremiah holds a Masters of Laws in Admiralty from Tulane Law School and uses this expertise to assist maritime clients in insurance, property damage, business, and injury matters. Jeremiah has also obtained successful results in cases against insurance brokers/agents, fiduciaries, POAs, trustees, and more. Prior to forming his firm, Jeremiah represented some of the nation’s largest insurance companies and defended hundreds of insurance coverage, Jones Act, and maritime injury claims throughout the Gulf South. Jeremiah’s experience representing some of the nation’s largest insurance companies provides a unique perspective on what it takes to favorably resolve a case for his clients. In his spare time, Jeremiah enjoys spending time with his wife, Alma, and daughters, Lucia and Lillian. As a lifelong musician, Jeremiah can often be found picking at one of his guitars.

O. Shane Balloun

O.Shane Balloun grew up all over the United States before his family settled in Bellingham, Washington. He attended Cornell University as a Dean’s Scholar, graduating with an A.B. in Mathematics. After college, he worked in high tech in Silicon Valley, enjoying a stint in the hard disk drive industry before beginning work at Google. While at Google, O.Shane had the pleasure of serving on teams that launched Gmail and Google Product Search (formerly Froogle). After Google, O.Shane earned his J.D. with honor from the University of Wyoming, graduating in the top 3% of his class and garnering induction into the Order of the Coif. He also holds an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Admiralty from Tulane University Law School, the world’s top admiralty law program. He graduated with distinction. O.Shane loves his family, enjoys strategy games and photography, and scuba dives as a certified Divemaster.

Pete Stokes

Pete Stokes is an attorney who practices in the State of Mississippi. Pete is a strong advocate for policyholders and people who have suffered personal injuries.
