About Adam

Born and raised in the Upper Kanawha Valley of West Virginia, Adam S. Daugherty brings a deep connection to his community and a unique blend of legal and insurance experience to his practice at Bailey, Javins & Carter, L.C. A proud first-generation college graduate, Adam’s roots in Kanawha County-where his parents’ high school rivalry at East Bank and DuPont High Schools sparked a lifelong love story-fuel his commitment to advocating for West Virginians who have been injured through no fault of their own. After earning his B.S. in Business Administration from West Virginia University in 2015, Adam honed his operational and leadership skills as a manager at Pies & Pints, a West Virginia staple. His time in Los Angeles in 2017 reignited his passion for his home state, prompting his desire to come back and “be the change” that his community needed. As a licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Producer in West Virginia, Ohio, and Michigan, Adam worked with Capital Insurance Group, leading the brokerage to become the fastest-growing in West Virginia and establishing a satellite office in Columbus, Ohio. This insurance background provides a rare perspective on claim evaluation and insurance defense, which he now leverages to maximize results for his clients. Adam earned his J.D. from Capital University Law School in 2023, graduating cum laude in the top 20% of his class. His academic excellence earned him membership in Volume 50 of the Capital University Law Review and the CALI Award for the highest grade in judicial opinion writing. After passing the West Virginia Uniform Bar Exam on his first attempt, Adam practiced civil defense litigation at Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe, defending state and county entities in employment and civil rights matters. This experience sharpened his litigation skills and deepened his understanding of case strategy, which he now applies to advocating for injured plaintiffs at Bailey, Javins & Carter, L.C. Adam is deeply engaged in the Charleston community, serving as a committee member for FestivAll Charleston and participating in Charleston Cosmos. His personal life is anchored by his wife, Katey, a professional photographer, and their two young sons, whose births during his law school years underscored his drive to provide for his family and serve his community.
