About Chris

Chris joined McRae, Smith, Peek, Harman & Monroe, LLP in 2014. He is a native of Cave Spring and is a 2002 graduate of Darlington School. Chris attended college at the University of Georgia where he graduated Cum Laude with an A.B.J. in Journalism and Broadcast news in 2006. After college, Chris joined the staff of Congressman Phil Gingrey as his Communications Director and Press Secretary in Washington, DC. Chris returned to Georgia to attend law school at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in 2012. During law school, Chris clerked with the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office where he gained litigation experience trying cases for the county under the Third Year Practice Act. Prior to joining the firm, Chris honed his litigation and negotiation skills for two years as an Assistant Public Defender for the Rome Judicial Circuit. Chris represents clients in a wide variety of criminal and civil matters, including complex litigation. Additionally, Chris provides legal counsel to several local governments, including his service as the Assistant Floyd County Attorney. Chris also serves, part time, as the Chief Municipal Judge for the City of Rome. He is a past president of the Rome Bar Association and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation and sits on the Board of Governors for the Heart of the Community Foundation.
