About Edward
Furia and Turner was originally founded by Edward W. Furia, Sr., Esquire (1905-1971), in 1930. Mr. Furia was an attorney for the Pennsylvania State Banking Department and maintained an active community general practice for over 40 years. He served as Clerk of the Quarter Sessions Court of Philadelphia, was U.S. Commissioner for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and then became the first U.S. Magistrate for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. In 2002, Edward W. Furia, Sr., was named a "Legend of the Bar." This honor has been bestowed upon only 160 lawyers to date in the history of the Philadelphia Bar Association. He was hand-picked, by a cross-section of today's Philadelphia lawyers, as one of the advocates of the past who embodied the true meaning of the term "Philadelphia Lawyer," which began with Andrew Hamilton (the first Legend of the Bar) in the year 1735.
