Stephen Harvey’s legal practice includes a wide range of transactional and corporate matters including real estate transactions, commercial loans and financing, business formation and governance, and mergers and acquisitions. Stephen has decades of experience working on commercial real estate sales and leases, including shopping centers, multi-use development projects, warehouses, office buildings, subdivisions, vacant land and various other commercial properties, representing all of the potential parties to these transactions such as developers, banks and other lenders, sellers, landlords and tenants. Stephen also has extensive experience in commercial finance, representing borrowers and lenders, and he has structured and negotiated a variety of loans and other financing vehicles including real estate and construction loans, asset-based loans, ground lease financing and project financing. He regularly represents and advises businesses and business owners on internal governance issues in connection with business formations and changes in ownership. Stephen also handles purchases and sales of businesses and various assets. In addition to his transactional and corporate practice, Stephen represents banks, other creditors, and landlords in litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on complex collection cases. Stephen has practiced in the Mobile, Alabama area since graduating from law school in 1991, and he has been with McDowell Knight since 2002. He was born in Camden, Alabama and graduated from the University of Alabama, B.A., as well as the University of Alabama School of Law, J.D., where he served on the Editorial Board of the Alabama Law Review.
