About James
James M. Callaghan represents clients in court on a daily basis. He practices in a wide range of areas including criminal law, family law, civil litigation, municipal law, workers compensation, and probate law. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and American University Law School in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation from law school he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph F. Rodgers, Jr., Presiding Justice of the Rhode Island Superior Court. From 2004 to 2012, James was a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General. He has tried more than thirty cases before a jury. He currently serves as one of the Town Solicitors for New Shoreham (Block Island) and previously served as the Town Solicitor for the Town of Narragansett. From 2012 to 2014 James was President of the Narragansett Town Council. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Burke Scholarship Fund.
