About James

James M. Piro founded Piro, Zinna, Cifelli, Paris & Genitempo in 1969. He specializes in complex commercial transactions, acquisitions and mergers, and commercial real estate, representing companies in multimillion-dollar transactions both domestically and internationally. He has expertise in HUD/FHA insured commercial lending transactions and handles estate matters and government-related issues. He served as Chief Counsel, General Counsel, and Assistant Counsel to the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission from 1983 to 2011, and continues as lead counsel for the firm. He also served as Counsel to the Pequannock, Lincoln Park and Fairfield Sewerage Authority (1985-1995), Suburban Essex Joint Insurance Fund (since 1992), Nutley Senior Citizens Complex (since 1980), and Haledon Municipal Utility Authority (2002-2007). A graduate of Seton Hall University and Rutgers School of Law, he was a judicial clerk in Passaic County before becoming Assistant Deputy Public Defender (1969-1972), Nutley Town Attorney and Prosecutor (1972-1976), and an Essex County Freeholder (1978-1981).
