About John

Growing up on the family farm in northeast Iowa, it was John’s love for people and problem-solving that led him to pursue law. He attended Loras College and graduated maxima cum laude in 1969. He went on to pursue his law degree at the University of Iowa College of Law, where he graduated with distinction. John has been serving the north central Iowa community with Laird Law Firm since 1973, proven to be a rewarding career for him, and has solidified his belief in honesty and the importance of perseverance. Outside of the office, John is passionate about giving back and volunteers at Newman Catholic Schools in Mason City, IA. He also enjoys following the many interests and athletic endeavors of his grandchildren, rooting for the Chicago White Sox, and getting a round of golf in whenever possible. John’s practice focuses primarily on real estate law, estate planning, business planning, probate, and creditor’s rights.
