About Monte

Lawrence Montgomery Terrell Sleight, known as Monte, has been practicing as a criminal defense attorney for over 20 years. He started at the public defender’s office in S.L. County and has expanded his practice to include juvenile defense. He also works with Brian Lofgren on immigration and criminal defense overlap. Monte graduated from the S.J. Quinney School of Law at the University of Utah in 1999. He is an Associate Professor with the Salt Lake Community College Legal Studies Program and a board member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defenders (UACDL), having served as President twice. He is also a founding member of the Pioneer Justice Center.
