About Richard

Richard H. Seaton, Jr. is a Partner in the firm. His main areas of focus include criminal defense, personal injury, domestic and family law and firearms law. An experienced trial lawyer who has appeared in civil and criminal cases throughout Kansas, Richard has also handled civil and criminal cases in the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court. He has practiced extensively in Federal District Court for the District of Kansas and has tried jury cases in both state and federal court. Mr. Seaton has defended clients charged with first degree murder, manufacture of controlled substance, rape, arson, kidnapping, and various lesser felonies and misdemeanors. His areas of concentration in the domestic and family law areas include divorce, paternity proceedings, CINC actions, child support and child custody. Richard deals with personal injury matters ranging from wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases to simple automobile accidents. Firearms Law includes wrongful NICS Denials, FFL Defense, NFA Trusts, firearms seizures, Lawful Use of Force and other 2nd Amendment issues. Richard is Massad Ayoob certified lethal force instructor and certified to provide expert assistance both in and out of court on issues related to the use of force in self defense and the presentation of the affirmative defense. After graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1988, Richard practiced in Wichita until he joined our firm in 1998.
