Dick Seaton is the firm’s senior partner, with 50 years experience in the state and federal courts. He concentrates in employment and school law, probate and estate planning, workers compensation and commercial and civil litigation. He carries the highest rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Seaton has considerable appellate experience before the Tenth Circuit and the Kansas Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Appearing twice in the U.S. Supreme Court, he most recently successfully represented the Plaintiff in Umbehr v. County Commissioners, a free speech case. As a result of that case, he was named a lawyer of the year by Lawyers Weekly U.S.A. Mr. Seaton is also listed in 21st Edition of The Best Lawyers in America and Who's Who in America. Dick was for many years the general counsel for Kansas State University, where he handled cases relating to civil rights, employment, constitutional and administrative law. He also serves on the Board of Editors of the Kansas Bar Journal, and is a former chairman. In 2016, Mr. Seaton has been named one of, "The Best Lawyers in America for his work in the practice areas of Education Law and First Amendment Law".
