Ms. Quinn has a diverse practice area. She handles employment law matters on behalf of both private and public employers, she represents railroad companies in personal injury and property damage cases, and she handles a wide variety of litigation matters on behalf of public entity clients. Ms. Quinn is an experienced trial attorney, who has tried cases in both state and federal court. She has obtained defense verdicts in cases seeking multi-million dollars in damages. She has also tried cases on the plaintiff’s side for a public entity client. In addition to her trial successes, Ms. Quinn has obtained summary judgment on behalf of her clients in cases alleging personal injury, wrongful death, breach of contract, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and civil rights violations. Her experience also includes representing clients in front of administrative bodies, such as the State Personnel Board, the California Department of Social Services, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the California Department of Industrial Relations. Ms. Quinn’s employment law experience includes both counseling and defending employers on a wide variety of employment issues, such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour claims. She handles leave of absence and reasonable accommodation issues under both state and federal law. She conducts independent investigations in employment matters. She has successfully represented clients in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in employment cases. One of those matters resulted in a published opinion, Gibson v. Office of the Attorney General, State of California, et al., 554 F.3d 759 (9 Cir. 2009). A substantial portion of Ms. Quinn’s practice is defending railroad companies in personal injury, wrongful death and property damage cases. She regularly defends Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) claims, a federal statute allowing railroad employees to sue their employer for on-the-job injuries. She handles toxic tort cases on behalf of a railroad client, alleging injuries due to asbestos and other alleged toxic exposures. Ms. Quinn also represents private and public clients in personal injury and property damage matters. She has considerable experience with the California Tort Claims Act and regularly defends public entity clients against claims alleging the dangerous condition of public property under Government Code section 830, et seq., as well as inverse condemnation. Her public entity work also includes litigating claims on behalf of public entities for damages sustained to public property and for theft of power.
