Mr. Monahan has been an attorney since 1976. Since the mid-1980’s he has practiced primarily in the area of defense counsel for government entities. These entities include but are not limited to the Ocean County Joint Insurance Fund, South Jersey Transportation Authority, the Garden State Joint Insurance Fund, and other private insurance carriers. He has represented municipalities and other governmental entities in all aspects of civil litigation in both State and Federal Courts, and before the Office of Administrative Law. He has represented public entities in all types of litigation from slips and falls to dangerous conditions of public property, employment claims, contract claims including construction claims, environmental claims, claims under the ADA and CEPA, and 42 U.S.C ß1983 claims alleging that a violation of an individual’s civil rights by a public entity resulted in injuries up to the death of that individual. He has appeared on behalf of public entities before the Office of Administrative Law, the Superior Court, Appellate Division and Supreme Court of New Jersey and the Federal District Court and 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals. He is Currently an approved attorney for the New Jersey Utilities Authority.
