In a groundbreaking case with considerable national interest, we resolved a case on behalf of the family of a 91-year-old woman whose end of life wishes were not honored during her admission at a local hospital. Despite having a written Advance Directive for Health Care that prohibited heroic measures to prolong her life, the medical providers ignored those instructions and proceeded with the unwanted medical treatment and surgery.
