Case Details
A Philadelphia jury returned a $1,500,000 verdict in a wrongful death suit for Shane Montgomery, a 21-year-old student who went missing in 2014 and was found drowned. The bars were found 50% responsible for serving him while visibly intoxicated and improperly ejecting him.
Additional Notes
Mr. Montgomery’s parents, Karen and Kevin Montgomery, filed the suit. The case established precedent for holding bars responsible for the manner of patron ejection.
