Case Details
A 31-year-old woman was severely injured when her leg was crushed between two vehicles on the side of the freeway. She was involved in a minor fender bender and had moved to the shoulder. A commercial truck made an illegal lane change, struck a passenger vehicle, causing it to lose control and careen towards her, crushing her between the front of that vehicle and the back of her own. The commercial vehicle fled the scene. During trial, it was proven that the commercial truck driver was responsible. The collision caused damage to her popliteal artery, requiring bypass surgery and extensive skin graft surgeries. The defendant was responsible for over $7,000,000 including interests and costs.
