The family of Corrina Medway, a Canberra woman who died giving birth in May 2011 due to complications from pre-eclampsia, was awarded compensation. The ACT Coroner found her obstetrician failed to provide appropriate treatment for her dangerous blood pressure readings.

Coroner Margaret Hunter found Dr Andrew Foote's failure to treat Ms Medway's acute pregnancy-induced hypertension resulted in her cerebral haemorrhage and death. Recommendations were made for improved training on pre-eclampsia.
