William R. Scherer, III is a Senior Partner in Conrad & Scherer’s Fort Lauderdale office with over 28 years of experience. He focuses on commercial and real estate litigation, employment litigation, and personal injury cases, covering all phases of civil litigation including jury trials. He was a key member of the legal team that secured the historic $1.1 billion verdict in the Seminole Tribe of Florida v. Wells Fargo case. William represents both employers and employees in employment disputes and handles personal injury and wrongful death claims.

William R. Scherer, Jr. is the founding partner of Conrad & Scherer, with a legal career spanning over five decades. He is a tireless advocate and leader in high-stakes litigation, having secured a historic $1.1+ billion jury verdict in Gopher v. Wells Fargo in 2025. He also led initial lawsuits against Chiquita Brands International and handled high-profile cases including representing President George W. Bush in the 2000 Broward County recount and leading the legal fight for victims of the Scott Rothstein Ponzi scheme. He is consistently recognized for his impact in the legal community.

Mr. Dalton graduated first in his law school class of 1981 from Campbell University School of Law with honors. He has a BS degree with honors from Appalachian State University and graduated from West Henderson High School in Hendersonville, NC. He has been practicing law primarily in Transylvania, Henderson, Polk and Buncombe Counties for 36 years. He has received a “BV” or Distinguished Rating with Martindale-Hubbell for the past twenty years based on peer review. He has an active trial practice in all areas of criminal law from traffic offenses to capital murder and has been on the approval list for Capital Trial Lead Counsel for over twenty years. Mr. Dalton also handles criminal law, family law, estate law, and personal injury law. He was County Attorney for Transylvania County for four years, and was the primary attorney for the Child Support Enforcement with the Transylvania County Department of Social Services for 35 years where he won a number of awards, and served as a back-up attorney for Transylvania County Department of Social Services Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services for a number of years and is still a back-up attorney for the Transylvania County Department of Social Services. He is currently the back-up attorney for Buncombe County Child Support Enforcement. He has served as local Bar President and President of the District Bar on numerous occasions. He has been active in St. Timothy United Methodist Church and in civil clubs including the Brevard Lions Club, and the Pisgah Forest Rotary Club.

Janine R. McGuire is a Partner at Conrad & Scherer, bringing extensive experience in commercial litigation, trust and probate litigation, and appellate practice. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 1995 and her Bachelor of Arts from Providence College in 1992. She was part of the legal team that secured a historic $1.1+ billion jury verdict against Wells Fargo in 2025 and played a critical role in the legal fight against Scott Rothstein. She is also the Chairperson and Lead of the Conrad & Scherer Pathways to Careers in Law program and has been honored as an Inspirational Woman of Broward County.

Kirk R. vonHilsheimer

Kirk R. vonHilsheimer is a Senior Associate at Conrad & Scherer’s Fort Lauderdale office, playing a critical role in complex commercial litigation. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University. He was part of the legal team that secured a historic $1.1+ billion jury verdict in Gopher v. Wells Fargo. His work includes enforcing mechanic’s liens, resolving contract disputes, protecting public access to information under Florida’s Sunshine Law, and probate litigation. He began as a Summer Associate and has been with the firm for nearly a decade.

Irwin R. Gilbert is a retired Senior Partner at Conrad & Scherer’s Fort Lauderdale office, focusing on complex commercial litigation, general business litigation, construction defect litigation, class actions, and professional liability. He practices in State and Federal Courts across the U.S. and represents Fortune 100 companies and high-profile clients. He served on the trial team that secured a historic $1.1+ billion jury verdict in Gopher v. Wells Fargo in 2025. With 41 years of experience, he is known for strategic efficiency, compressing litigation timelines, and achieving cost-effective resolutions. His expertise includes antitrust and unfair competition law.

Steven H. Osber is a Senior Partner at Conrad & Scherer’s Fort Lauderdale office with nearly 30 years of experience in commercial and business litigation. His practice includes partnership and shareholder disputes, commercial evictions, real estate, and construction litigation. He was part of the lead trial team in the Gopher v. Wells Fargo case, which resulted in a historic $1.1+ billion jury verdict in 2025. Steven also serves as outside general counsel to various businesses and has extensive litigation experience with over 100 state and federal jury and non-jury trials.
