Sophia A. Kandt

Sophia Kandt is a dedicated Partner Attorney at Stockton & Kandt, LLC. Since joining the firm in 2017, she has played an instrumental role in delivering expert legal counsel to our clients. A proud Kansan, Sophia grew up locally and earned her undergraduate degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University, where she was a member of the women’s basketball team. During her time as a student-athlete, she also worked as a caretaker serving the special needs community and as a CNA in a local senior care home. Her passion for education led her to pursue a master’s degree in Dublin, Ireland, in 2014. Upon returning home, Sophia earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law, where she distinguished herself with additional certifications in Elder Law and Trial Advocacy. During law school, she interned with the Legal Services Office, providing legal assistance to low-income individuals, and with Legal Services for Students, where she gained experience in tax filings. She also served at the District Attorney’s Prosecutor’s Office, handling a diverse range of cases, including children in need of care as well as adult and juvenile criminal matters. As a seasoned attorney, Sophia primarily practices in Elder Law, Medicaid Planning, and Estate Planning. Her broad legal expertise also extends to Business Law and Personal Injury, offering clients a well-rounded and strategic legal approach. Outside the office, Sophia leads a fulfilling life with her husband, Derek Kandt, a JAG Officer in the U.S. Navy. A passionate traveler, Sophia has lived in four countries and explored over 30 others. Marion Stern

Marion Stern ensures smooth firm operations and excellent client representation, focusing on elder law, Medicaid planning, probate and trust administration, fiduciary litigation, estate planning, guardianship, and conservatorships. She leads the firm’s probate, trust administration, and fiduciary litigation departments. Marion has been practicing law for 15 years, earning her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2010 and her B.A. from the University of Iowa in 2007. She is licensed in Kansas and Missouri.

He and his wife of more than 35 years, Tamela, met in Emporia and have three children-Derrick, Sophia, and Alex-and eight grandchildren. Glenn and Tamela are family-oriented, spending most evenings and weekends with their children. They love to travel, especially with the kids and grandkids, and also enjoy dancing whenever they get the chance.

Amanda Brauninger

Amanda Brauninger focuses on Estate Planning, Business and Commercial law, Real Estate, Probate and Trust Administration. She develops personalized estate plans and assists with business and commercial law matters. Amanda holds a J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law, an MSc from Imperial College London, and a BSc from Royal Holloway University of London. Julia Reece focuses on Probate, Guardianship/Conservatorship, and Trust Administration, guiding clients through sensitive matters with empathy. She earned her J.D. from UMKC School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Julia is licensed in Kansas and Missouri and is an active member of several legal associations.

Adam Mauck

Adam Mauck specializes in estate planning, business law, and real estate. He drafts estate plans, conducts annual reviews, and previously worked as a civil litigator. Adam received his J.D. from the University of Kansas in 2017 and his B.A. in History from the University of Kansas in 2014. He is licensed in Kansas and Missouri and is a member of several bar associations.

Melody Isom is a Kansas City native licensed to practice law in both Kansas and Missouri. Her practice focuses on estate planning, wills, and trusts-helping individuals and families create personalized plans that protect what matters most. Melody believes that no two families are alike, and neither are their estate planning needs. She takes the time to truly listen and understand each client’s priorities and values. Together, she works with clients to develop tailored estate plans that safeguard loved ones, preserve legacies, and provide lasting peace of mind.
