Grand Forks, ND

Rick Sand is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a licensed attorney in the states of North Dakota, Minnesota, Arizona as well numerous Federal Jurisdictions. During law school Mr. Sand interned for the Alaska Department of Administration’s Office of Public Advocacy. While at the Office of Public Advocacy Mr. Sand advocated for indigent clients accused of criminal offenses within the Municipality of Anchorage. Mr. Sand focusses on representing clients in criminal defense and personal injury matters. In addition, he worked as contract counsel for the North Dakota Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents. Mr. Sand enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and kids. Rick has litigated numerous cases that have resulted in successful outcomes for his clients at all stages of litigation. Rick’s community involvement has consisted of volunteering at elderly care facilities as well as coaching Special Olympics - most notably as a volunteer during the Special Olympics Winter World Games in Boise, Idaho. In his spare time Rick enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and kids.

Bill Sand attended college at Hamline University, where he served as captain of the men’s baseball team. During law school, Mr. Sand received a concentration in Criminal Litigation and was awarded the Honorable Louis M. Welsh Endowed Scholarship. This award is given to the student who best “exemplifies the highest ethical standards and believes in the humanity of the law” and who demonstrates a “passionate desire to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a trial lawyer.” While in law school, Bill spent time with a civil litigation firm, monitored and reported on various state agencies, and worked at a law library where he conducted legal research for attorneys and professors. His legal journey brought him to Alaska, where he successfully represented numerous indigent clients facing criminal charges. He later entered the field of Special Education Law and has since helped obtain hundreds of thousands of dollars in services for parents to meet the educational needs of their disabled children. Most recently, Bill has handled a large number of Criminal Defense and Personal Injury cases for his clients. He has experienced uncommon success, with an abnormally high success rate at all stages of litigation-from jury verdicts to judicial rulings in favor of his clients. Outside of the law, Bill enjoys playing music, hiking, and spending time with family. He is involved with the Special Olympics, has volunteered at care centers for the elderly, and founded several youth baseball camps.

Robert J. LaBine

Robert J. LaBine has been practicing law and proudly serving the residents of North Dakota and Minnesota for over 30 years. Kerry S. Rosenquist

Kerry S. Rosenquist began his career as a Police Officer before earning his Juris Doctorate in 1991 from the University of North Dakota. He practices in criminal defense, personal injury, family law, estate planning, civil law, administrative law, probate assistance, and labor law. He has experience in serious felony cases and appellate appearances.

Blake D. Hankey

Blake D. Hankey is an owner of Hankey Law, PLLC, and has defended clients in North Dakota, Minnesota, and federal courts since 2003. He primarily practices criminal defense, but also handles personal injury, corporate and contract law, trusts and estates, civil litigation, appellate law, domestic relations, and real estate law. He has 21 years of practice experience and has handled cases for the Commission of Indigent Defense for 20 years. Blake earned his Juris Doctor from Western State University College of Law in 2003 and a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1999. He is licensed in North Dakota District and Federal Court as well as Minnesota District Court. Blake currently serves as the Mayor for the City of Harwood.

Garry A. Pearson

Garry A. Pearson (1934-2014) was a founding partner of Pearson Christensen, PLLP. He earned a B.S.B.A. from the University of North Dakota (1956) and a J.D. from the University of North Dakota Law School (1958). He was a Certified Public Accountant and served as a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. Pearson specialized in federal and state income, estate, and gift taxation, and was admitted to practice in North Dakota (1958) and Minnesota (1988), as well as various federal courts.
