WILLIAM UMANSKY

Bill “The Lawman” Umansky as he is known by other lawyers in Florida has over thirty years of experience offering “Second Chances” to clients who have either been injured as a result of someone else’s negligence or who have, unfortunately, been charged with a crime. Bill discovered his passion for law through personal experience. Growing up in a broken home, he experienced pain at an early age and felt the powerlessness people feel when they suffer trauma through no fault of their own. Angry at his situation and feeling powerless, he began to hate authority, experimented with drugs and alcohol and was thrown out of at least three schools. Before leaving for college, he felt broken, dejected and like a victim. Fortunately for him, several mentors came into his life that showed him that he could take charge of his life, be accountable for his actions and move forward always in a positive direction. Later faith taught Bill that he deserved a second chance, and that he could give that second chance to others. As a result, Bill decided to become a lawyer. He wanted to find justice for clients, protect them against the vast power of government prosecution in criminal cases and help them obtain fair compensation for the injuries they suffered through no fault of their own. In every case, he personally handles, Bill wants to make sure he is giving power back to the client and to move them always forward in a positive direction. Bill graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and obtained a law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. During law school, Bill was a member of the University of Florida Trial Team and received a Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contribution to the University of Florida Law School. He also received top of his class award in Mediation, Negotiations and Dispute Settlement. Mr. Umansky also went to the Tulane Institute of European Legal Studies in Paris France. After law school, Bill knew he wanted to get in front of a Jury as much as he could. Bill honed his skills in the courtroom by trying over one hundred cases as a prosecutor in Brevard County Florida. He tried all kinds of cases and became a Domestic Violence Division Chief. He also served as the City Prosecutor for the City of Orlando where he also was a Police Academy Instructor. After working for two other prominent Central Florida Personal Injury firms, he opened his own law firm in 1999. He is now the Managing Partner of the Umansky Law Firm where he runs a team of lawyers dedicated to obtaining outstanding results. The Umansky Law handles all kinds of all personal injury cases including car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, sex abuse, negligent security, slip and fall and premise liability cases. Additionally, Bill has helped numerous people who have become entrenched in the Criminal Justice system after being caught making a mistake. He makes it his mission to provide his clients with the second chance they deserve by getting the charges dropped, reduced or mitigation of the sentence when all else fails. He and his team has handled all types of Felony, Misdemeanor and Ordinance charges including cases involving drunk driving, drug sale or possession, trafficking, prostitution, mortgage fraud, theft, shoplifting, false imprisonment, suspended licenses, battery, domestic violence, obstruction charges and sex offenses and murder. He has appeared or been quoted in many national media outlets including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, People Magazine, NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX affiliates around the country. He speaks all around the country and is the author of several books including a best-selling Amazon Law Practice Book called Tiger Tactics. He also is the host of a podcast geared toward lawyers called “The Lawman’s Lounge”. Bill has received many awards from his peers and has been recognized as an AV rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell, Super Lawyer and Florida Legal Elite. Believing as a lawyer you must always give back, Bill is active in the Orlando community. He is serving or has served on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Bar Association, Teen Court and Teen Alternatives, Inc, YMCA of Central Florida, Orange County Legal Aid Society and Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association. He is a past president of the Avalon Park Rotary Club and current President of an education foundation he founded called Second Chance of Florida. Bill has been a volunteer and coach for youth soccer, basketball and football teams in the Orlando area. Bill is married to his beautiful wife Zahra Umansky, who is also an accomplished criminal trial lawyer, and he is the proud father of two great sons Zak and Jake.
