Joshua S. Lim

Joseph LaBarbiera

Joseph LaBarbiera, founding partner of LaBarbiera & Martinez, embarked in private practice in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death in 1991. Richard LaBarbiera

Richard LaBarbiera graduated cum laude from Seton Hall University. He began working at the firm in 1994 and practices in the area of personal injury, where he has focused his efforts since graduating from Seton Hall University School of Law. He was proud to have successfully briefed and argued the published Appellate Division case of Pardo v. Dominguez, 382 N.J. Super. 489 (App.Div.2006), which he took up based upon varying interpretations of the limitation on lawsuit threshold by the trial courts. He also took on the Village of Ridgefield Park in D'Angelo v. Moylan, 2016 N.J. Super. Unpub. LEXIS 103 (Super. Ct. App. Div. Jan. 20, 2016) where the Appellate Division agreed with his interpretation of N.J.S.A. 59:3-3 and held that ambulance drivers that fail to follow traffic laws are not entitled to immunity. A lifelong Bergen County resident, Richard continues to practice at both the Trial and Appellate levels. He has been recognized multiple times as a "Rising Star" in New Jersey Magazine's "Super Lawyers" publication. Richard is an active member and supporter of the New Jersey Association for Justice. He hopes to one day own a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

Luis Martinez

In 2003, Luis A. Martinez merged his law practice with Joseph LaBarbiera which formed the current firm of LaBarbiera & Martinez. Luis handles complex personal injury matters including wrongful death, construction negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice, and claims resulting from automobile and other vehicular negligence. Luis also regularly handles workers' compensation claims. Luis A. Martinez received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Seton Hall University 1987. In 1990, Mr. Martinez graduated from Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey. From 1990-1991, Mr. Martinez served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Peter Boggia of the Superior Court, Law Division, Bergen County. Mr. Martinez then was an associate with a personal injury law firm with offices in located in Fort Lee, New Jersey and New York City from 1991 through 1998. He then established his own practice of law in December, 1998. Luis was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1965 after his parents fled Cuba and the communist regime Fidel Castro. He was the first American born member of his family. Luis was appointed Municipal Court Judge for the Borough of Bogota located in Bergen County in 2007. Luis was a featured lecturer for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education for a seminar entitled Lessons Learned from Handling Quadriplegic & Paraplegic Workers Compensations Cases. Mr. Martinez is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania and in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Lonnie Griffin

Lonnie Griffin joined the firm of LaBarbiera & Martinez in 2002 as an attorney in all areas of personal injury, concentrating in Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury Litigation. A graduate of St. Peter's Prep, Jersey City, New Jersey, Lonnie is a lifelong resident of Hudson County with strong connections to the local community. After graduating from Fordham University, he attended Fordham University School of Law, where he received The Addison Metcalf Prize and Dean's List Honors. Upon receiving his Juris Doctorate, Lonnie joined the law firm of LaBarbiera & Martinez, where he had clerked during law school. Lonnie has tried both Superior Court and Workers’ compensation cases in Bergen and Hudson county, securing favorable settlements and judgments for his clients. He served as the President of the North Hudson Lawyers Club during 2013 and remains an active member of the association to this day. He is an active member of the New Jersey Association for Justice. Kendal Sim

Kendal Sim graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of the Fordham Urban Law Journal. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey state courts, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. Kendal began his legal career in commercial litigation, handling contract disputes, labor law claims, and matrimonial law, while also gaining experience in personal injury.
