James F. Brennan

Jim focuses his legal practice in residential and commercial real estate, including purchases, sales, refinances, and property-related issues. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1984 and began practicing law with F. Timothy McNamara as a civil trial attorney. In 1986, he joined Attorney Paul Kaplan, and in 1989, they formed Kaplan and Brennan LLP. He is a third-generation attorney and practices with his sons, Daniel R. Brennan and Thomas M. Brennan. Attorney Brennan serves as a Judicial Fact Finder for the Connecticut Superior Court and served as a member of the New London County Grievance Panel. He was a former president of Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Connecticut, and a former director of multiple community organizations, including the Northeast Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, The Arc of Quinebaug Valley, and the Quinebaug Rivers Association.

B. Paul Kaplan

Paul founded the law firm over 40 years ago. He has extensive knowledge in Probate Law, drafting Wills, real estate law, commercial and residential closings, and civil and criminal litigation. He has practiced before the Connecticut Superior Court, Appellate Court, and Connecticut Supreme Court and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He has served as a Fact Finder in the Superior Court for over 20 years and as a Small Claims Judge. He is a past president of the Plainfield Rotary Club and The Plainfield Chamber of Commerce, and a past member of the Plainfield Lions club. He has been a member of the standing committee for admission to the bar for Windham County and Chairman of the Court Visitation program for Windham County for over 20 years.

Thomas M. Brennan

Tom started working as an attorney at Kaplan and Brennan LLP in September of 2021. His legal work focuses on real estate closings, and he also helps clients to start LLCs for their businesses. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts School of Law.

Daniel R. Brennan

Dan's law practice focuses primarily on the representation of individuals and businesses in both residential and commercial purchases, sales, and refinances. He also handles business formation and landlord-tenant disputes. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 2011 and immediately joined Kaplan and Brennan LLP. He has over ten years of experience in real estate transactions.

Nicholas Mazzarella

Nick started working as an attorney at Kaplan and Brennan LLP in November of 2023. His legal work extends to real estate purchases and sales, estate planning, and handling the probate process for clients. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Massachusetts, and will be admitted to practice in Rhode Island in 2025. He graduated as a Juris Doctor from Western New England University School of Law.
