Benjamin B. Ware

Ben resides in Teays Valley, West Virginia with his wife Amber, an elementary school teacher, and their two daughters, Ivy and Lucy. Ben is an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoys cheering on his kids at their tennis matches and various other activities. As an active member of the community, Ben volunteers in various capacities and coaches the West Teays Elementary Archery Team, which has won many top place trophies and annually participates in the State Tournament.

David A. Dobson

Richard D. Owen
Mr. Owen’s practice focuses on civil litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Stephanie H. Daly
Stephanie’s practice combines representation of victims of personal injury matters, criminal defense and federal practice matters, employment claims, including defense of employers and representation of individuals wrongfully discharged, as well as the defense of health care clients in administrative and civil litigation forums. Stephanie has also served in various capacities as a Guardian ad litem, representing the interests of young people in state’s custody. Stephanie’s experience as Commissioner, and President, of the City of Charleston Police Civil Service Commission has informed her representation of both law enforcement officers and victims of excessive force in matters related to injuries sustained during police operations. Stephanie resides in Charleston with her husband John Brammer (JD). Their busy blended household consists of three sons, Brace Robert, Daly and Josef, daughter Heidi, English Bulldog Moose and Weimaraner Frisco. Stephanie enjoys all things related to her family’s activities, sewing and traveling.

Laura M. Goins

R. Booth Goodwin II
Booth Goodwin focuses his practice on complex litigation-from large antitrust lawsuits to serious personal injury matters. He has successfully defended Fortune 500 companies and recovered millions for injured individuals. The team he leads treats every case as if it is going to trial, and, as a result, they achieve remarkable results for their clients. Known as a keen problem solver, Booth often is able to reach a positive resolution for his clients without the need for protracted litigation. Booth served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia from May 2010 through the end of 2015. He focused his office’s efforts on tackling West Virginia’s prescription drug and heroin crisis, holding corporate criminals accountable for putting workers at risk and polluting water sources, prosecuting corrupt public officials, protecting children and the elderly, and helping communities rebuild after being ravaged by drugs and violence. During Booth’s tenure, he personally prosecuted numerous cases of regional and national interest and oversaw the prosecution of many other such cases. Before becoming United States Attorney, Booth was an Assistant United States Attorney for almost 10 years and was head of the office’s Economic Crimes Section and was its lead computer and intellectual property crime prosecutor. Drawing on his extensive experience in public service, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his private practice. Every day, he is dedicated to securing justice for his clients, whether they are large corporations, private individuals, plaintiffs, or defendants. Booth serves on the board directors for the National Association of Former United States Attorneys. He lives in Charleston with his wife and Charleston mayor, Amy Shuler Goodwin. Booth and Amy have two sons, Joe (attending Marshall University) and Sam (attending West Virginia University).

Thomas R. Goodwin
Tom earned his undergraduate degree from WVU, in 1966, graduating magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1969, he graduated from the WVU College of law, where he was Editor in Chief of the West Virginia Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He obtained an L.L.M. in tax law from Harvard University in 1970. In 1971, Tom, along with his brother the Hon. Joseph R. Goodwin, founded Goodwin & Goodwin. He briefly left the Firm from 1977 through 1981 to serve as State Tax Commissioner and Chief of Staff for Governor John D. Rockefeller. Tom served as managing partner of the Firm for decades and continues to provide advice and counsel to clients. He serves as a valuable advisor to both businesses and individuals, providing insightful, strategic advice in many areas. Over the course of his career, Tom has represented clients in myriad civil litigation and complex corporate matters, and he has mentored lawyers both within the Firm and across the table. In 1999, the West Virginia College of Law named a Professorship in his honor. He was honored as a WV State Bar Foundation Fellow in 2003 and invited to the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. Tom is married to Kathryn Sneddon Goodwin. They have two daughters-Carrie and Emily-and six grandchildren. Carrie is now the managing partner of the Firm.
