Jeffrey Early

Jeffrey C. Early has been practicing law for over 34 years, is a founding partner of Early, Powell & Wilson, PLC, and a lifelong resident of central Virginia. Mr. Early enjoys practicing a variety of law including, traffic, criminal, personal injury, estate planning, civil litigation and enjoys a very active real estate practice. He is the Commissioner of Accounts for Madison and Greene Counties, and Assistant Commissioner of Accounts for Orange County. Attending the University of Richmond, Roanoke College and George Mason University School of Law, Jeff earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Law degrees. He is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Virginia State Bar, and the Madison-Greene Bar Association. He served as the attorney for the Town of Madison from 1992-2009. One thing Jeff is passionate about is education. He served on the Madison County School Board from 1992-2013 (Chairman the last twelve years), on the Germanna Community College Board from 1988-1996 (Chairman for three years), is a founding board member of the Madison County Education Foundation and formerly served on the board of the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation. Jeff is an avid sports fan who enjoys mentoring youth and serving his community. He served as Assistant Coach of the Madison County High School Basketball Team from 2007-2010 winning the State Championship in the last year. He is devoted to his wife and daughters and enjoys traveling.

John Powell

Mike, a native of Madison, Virginia, attended the United States Air Force Academy and served in the military before attending the University of Arkansas Law School, graduating in 1973. He returned to Madison and served as the Clerk of the Circuit Court from 1973 until 1995. Admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1976, Mike began practicing law in 1995. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar Trust and Estate Section and the Madison-Greene Bar Association, serving as President from 1985 until 2017. He also served on the Germanna Community College Board from 2006 to 2010. Mike is committed to advocating for and serving the legal needs of the people in the Madison and Greene communities and the surrounding counties. He enjoys hiking and biking and pursues his life-long interest in flying as a Certified Flight Instructor. Practice areas include: Estate Planning and Administration (preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Advance Medical Directives and Trusts, Administration of Estates); Real Estate (Purchases and Sales, Deeds, Contract Preparation, and Refinance); Criminal Law (Traffic, Misdemeanor & Felony charges); Civil Litigation; Family Law (Adoption); and Personal Injury.

Thomas Wilson

Tom Wilson is a partner at Early, Powell & Wilson, PLC and a lifelong resident of central Virginia. Over the past 10 years, Tom has dedicated his practice to serving individuals and families throughout the region with professionalism and a client-focused approach. Effective January 1, 2025, Tom joined his law practice with Jeff Early and Mike Powell's to form Early, Powell & Wilson, PLC. Tom has significant experience in criminal and traffic matters, having handled over 2,000 criminal and traffic cases and more than 400 felony cases. In addition to criminal and traffic matters, Tom's practice focuses on estate planning, estate administration, and real estate law. Tom earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Hampden-Sydney College and his Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law. He is an active member of the Virginia State Bar and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia. He is also a member of the Madison-Greene Bar Association and the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association, where he has served on the Memorials Committee for over ten years.
