Erin M. Phillips

Erin M. Phillips became the owner of Unsell, Schattnik & Phillips, P.C. in 2022. She was previously named partner from 2013 to 2022. She first joined the firm as a law clerk and then as an associate attorney in 2006. Erin is originally from Wood River, Illinois, and resides in the Riverbend area with her husband, Scott, daughter, Adaline, and dog, Carl. Erin is the daughter of a retired auto worker. Her grandparents were veterans, dairy farmers, a school janitor, an auto parts store clerk, and a dry cleaner attendant. She is a first-generation lawyer who believes in fighting for working people such as her workers’ compensation clients that she assists and the firemen and policemen she defends. Erin enjoys spending her free time cycling, watching movies with her daughter, listening to her husband’s band, and soaking up the sun at a beach when she can. She is committed to causes such as Gateway Bike MS and the St. Louis ALS Walk.

Jane E. Unsell

Jane Unsell graduated from Oklahoma City University Law School at the top of her class in 1979. Following her admission to the Illinois and Oklahoma bars, Ms. Unsell began her private practice with the Madison County law firm of Bernard and Davidson located in Granite City, Illinois. She remained there until 1986, at which time she opened her own law practice in East Alton, Illinois. During her work at Bernard and Davidson, Ms. Unsell prepared and tried multiple cases before Madison and St. Clair County, Illinois juries. She has represented insurance companies, defended individuals and prosecuted claims for injured parties. In 1995, after leaving Bernard and Davidson and opening the law office of Unsell & Unsell she obtained a jury verdict for an injured plaintiff in an auto/truck which was recorded as the largest plaintiff verdict at the time in Macoupin County, Illinois. At present, she focuses her practice primarily on representing clients injured in motor vehicle accidents. Additionally, she represents individuals who have been wrongfully denied insurance coverage. She also handles contested estate and guardianship cases, she now sits as a hearing panel member for the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission in Springfield, Illinois. Mrs. Unsell is the senior partner in the law firm of Unsell, Schattnik & Phillips, PC which she founded in 1992. In 2010, she relocated the office from East Alton to Wood River, Illinois.

Bradley C. Young

Born and raised in Flora, Clay County, Illinois, Bradley is familiar with the lifestyle and legal needs of those in Southern Illinois. He obtained both his undergraduate and law degrees in Carbondale, Illinois at Southern Illinois University. Upon graduating from law school, Bradley began his work at Unsell, Schattnik & Phillips, P.C. in 2016 as an associate attorney. In 2023, Bradley became a partner at our firm. Since becoming an attorney, Bradley has litigated numerous cases with a focus on personal injury and workers’ compensation. He also defends municipalities and law enforcement in civil rights litigation. Bradley has secured multiple decisions for his clients in both state and federal courts and has received favorable appellate decisions in both Illinois state court and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Bradley enjoys spending his free time watching the latest Chicago Cubs game, fishing in the local lakes, and outdoors hunting during deer season in Southern Illinois.

Sarah J. Lukas

Sarah was born and raised in Central Florida. She graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2013 with a major in Legal Studies and a minor in Criminal Justice. Sarah moved to Southern Illinois and attended law school at Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale, Illinois, and graduated in 2016 with a specialization in Business Transactional Law. Sarah joined Unsell, Schattnik & Phillips, P.C. as an associate in 2018. Sarah has tried and won several bench trials. She also has secured numerous settlements and judgments in her client’s favor. Sarah’s diligent legal research and discovery are assets to the firm. Sarah resides in the Metro-East area with her fiancé, Drew, her cat, and her dog. Sarah enjoys spending her free time training and trialing her dog, Lucy, in various dog sports.
