About Caitlin
Caitlin Mitchell specializes in civil rights litigation and employment law, with a particular focus on gender discrimination / LGBTQ+ rights, the rights of prisoners, and the rights of families impacted by incarceration and the child welfare system. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, she was an attorney at Youth, Rights & Justice (YRJ) in Portland, where she represented children and parents in juvenile dependency proceedings in the trial court and on appeal. In her pre-law school life Caitlin was a counselor and community educator at a sexual assault crisis center, where she worked with survivors of violence and taught classes on topics including sexual harassment in the workplace. In 2024, Caitlin won the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association’s Arthur H. Bryant Public Justice Award for her work representing a non-binary child in a federal discrimination lawsuit against the Greater Albany Public School District. Caitlin graduated from Yale Law School in 2012. She earned a B.A. in English and Women's Studies from Yale University in 2006, graduating cum laude. She clerked for Justices Adrienne C. Nelson and Martha L. Walters on the Oregon Supreme Court.
